We connected, but it did not work out. Looking in Astoria, Queens, New York, NY 11105
When I worked with her she didn't show up at several of our appointments and I was left waiting on the sidewalk talking to her assistant on the phone while she was trying to figure out where Carmela was. Didn't receive any valid professional insight from Carmela. Only felt like I was on the conveyer belt with the others, trying to find a place, hoping Carmela would would show up.
I ended up finding a place to purchase with someone else. I wish it worked out but it didn't.
Being a buyer from out of state she helped me with the entire process and helped me get in contact with an attorney and a mortgage broker as well. She was knowledgable of the area and was pleasant to work with. She actually drove to my old residence to supplement me with paper work.
Very knowledgeable agent with a great selection on rental apartments. Was a bit late for the appointment but the listings made up for it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great apartment in Astoria.
My experience with Carmela was absolutely awful. For our first meeting, she not only didn't bother to show up, but failed to send a replacement. Subsequently, I waiting 25 minutes for an assistant to see me, who was unsure of the listing I contacted Carmela regarding. After showing up an apartment 15 blocks from our desired area, we saw a place we were very interested in and ready to make moves on. We were assured that if we got things rolling tomorrow we could be approved in 2 days tops. Before we could, all that was needed was approval for a cat. "I will call you back in the morning with an answer." At 3:00pm, I called him. Though polite, when he answered it was clear he never asked. An hour later I got approval- the cat would be Aok. Naturally, I requested we move forward. He gave me a list of paperwork we would need and we set a time to bring in the deposit and ensure our credit check could get started. The next day we scheduled to meet at 730 to pay deposit and credit approval. Once again, neither Carmela nor her assistant show. The women they had us speaking with was -- what we would assume to be-- an office assistant. She was gracious and apologetic, but knowledge-less about the process. When she tried to call Carmela-- no answer.
All the required paperwork was submitted Friday morning with the exception of one document that needed to be turned into a pdf which was done by 2:00pm that afternoon. No word Friday afternoon, no word Saturday, no word Sunday. Finally Monday we're in touch and told we can meet with the landlord on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 10. We requested the meeting be earlier so that neither of us had to take off of work or take a half day--request denied. So we set the time for Tuesday at 10 and got our cash and checks in order-- as we were told to do.
Later Monday evening we receive a call saying cash and personal checks were not going to be ok-- it was cashier's checks or nothing. But it was too late the banks were CLOSED. We agreed on Thursday and ensured Carmela would have the keys ready for us. So now, we had taken time off of work that was not necessary and had to wait until Thursday for cashier's checks to be approved and mailed to us.
Thursday we arrive at 10am at the office. We check in and, of course, no Carmella no assistant and what seems to be no knowledge of our meeting at all. We're put in a conference room and wait. At 10:30 the landlord shows up-- still no Carmella- no assistant. We meet and greet and he goes over vital info. When it comes time to sign the lease, he asks us for it. Lease? We hadn't even met Carmela yet! He was, rightfully so, furious. Carmela had not prepared the lease or left it for either of us to sign-- even though that was the single purpose of this meeting. We called in a staff member from the office and she left to find out what was going on. 20 minutes later she returned with a standard lease, and left the landlord to handwrite his additional notes. By this time it was 11:30. And hour and half after our meeting -- which should have lasted no longer than 45 minutes the most-- was scheduled to begin. The lease was signed, but neither the landlord not the relator had the keys.
I was informed to walk to the apartment 10 blocks away, ring the doorbell of the super and get the keys. The office assistant assured me she would be there-- no problem. Of course, I get there and no answer. So I leave to walk back to my car and go to work. Given our 2 hour 'meeting' at their office, I received a parking ticket for being parked after 1130 in alternate side parking.
Finally, at 6:00pm the super's son returned my phone call to his mother. He apologized that the landlord and realtor did not inform me that his parents were on vacation and could not show us around the building, but he had the keys and I could get them that night before midnight.
Carmela is a disaster. She is unprofessional, and dishonest. We paid a very large fee for her "services" though those services were not provided in full. In any other field, this would not stand.
Showed home in 2013 in Astoria, Queens, New York, NY 11103.
Masterful with extensive local knowledge, however is poor to respond. Bid on property turned into a bidding war, and even though I was told I would have an update by a given date, I needed to initiate communication, and had to sometimes wait days for a reply.

Don't bother. I asked her to see a property and she mentioned that the property already had a bid on it. This was after rescheduling several times to see the unit. Since when does a bid mean that you can't see the unit? I would probably have put a bid on it too. I will avoid her and her office like the plague.
Carmela is an ,experienced, local agent who did an incredible job of marketing my house and finding a buyer that was a perfect fit for the house, neighborhood, buyer/seller. I can't say enough positive things about Carmela Vlacich's professionalism and expertise in the field of real estate.
She is also a pleasure to work with...choosing Carmela has been a win/win/win!!
