We were recently able to work with Cathy McAlister as our real estate agent, and could not have been happier with the her service and the entire process. During the hyper-competitive housing market in Sacramento (especially in our target areas of Curtis Park, Land Park, and McKinley Park), Cathy's professionalism, dedication, cheerfulness, and many contacts in the business were key to our finding and purchasing our new home. Cathy tailored a custom search for us, was always on the lookout for new properties, and was available at very short notice to see houses and to write extremely well-crafted and compelling offers. I know that our offer was successful due to all of these qualities, no small feat given the seller's market in which we found ourselves. And throughout, Cathy was gracious, cheerful, and a pleasure to work with. We can't recommend her any more highly!
Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $375K in Elk Grove, CA.
This is the second home Cathy has helped our family with. Despite the challenges of this recent market, she helped us find a wonderful home in the area we were hoping for. Cathy pays attention to the little details and was very diligent and personable through the whole process. We would highly recommend her!
Cathy is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to real estate in Sacramento and it's surrounding areas. . She to great care to schedule the viewing of homes that would suite me. Since I moved here from another state she also provided me with contact names for broker and insurance agents that she had worked with over a number of years. She was always thoughtful to both the seller and myself.
It is obvious that she truly enjoys her chosen profession. I would recommend her services to anyone without any reservation.

Cathy Ashley McAlister brought her solid experience and expert real estate counseling to bear as she guided me through the many intricacies of listing, marketing, presenting my house, and preparing counteroffers to prospective purchasers. Until being referred by the friend of a friend to Cathy, I was living in a state of near panic, wondering what the future was holding for me. Cathy’s patience with a worried seller like me, her thorough knowledge of the inner workings of lenders, and her familiarity with sales trends, as well as her ability to allay my fears—all worked to my benefit as my house sale closed successfully. I am tremendously grateful for having made the best possible choice of realtors. To pay it forward, I would highly recommend Cathy McAlister in a heartbeat to anyone interested in selling his or her home, who has invested lots of TLC in its care, and who wants it sold in a tough market like the one we face today.
Cathy McAlister was extremely helpful in all aspects of the purchase of our new home. We relocated from Washington state and so had to rely on her to take care of things for us as we could not be here for many steps of the process. She took us all around the area and spent as much time as we needed to both look at the area and homes. She was very quick to respond to any requests we had and super helpful with explaining everything we needed to know. She even offered to fly up to Washington if we had any paperwork questions that could not be resolved on the phone or e-mail! Her knowledge and experience with all facets of the real estate process are impressive and very helpful and she is very personable and pleasant. We would absolutely recommend that anyone looking to buy in the greater Sacramento area should call Cathy.
Cathy was not only our real estate agent but our mentor. This was our first house and we knew nothing. Cathy walked us through every step so patiently she was so knowlegable, professional and fun! She made a very long hard process simple.
We would recommend Cathy to anyone who needs an agent.
Thank you again Cathy we love our home and you!!!!

Cathy is beyond great. We just love her! She helped us short sell a house and then buy one. Both experiences were great. We trust her so much that we recommended all of our friends and family who have all loved her too. You can't go wrong in choosing her.

I can't say enough how great it was for my partner and I to work with Cathy. She loves doing this and it shows. As first time home buyers, we were daunted by the prospect of looking for a home. That is, until we met Cathy. With her knowledge, experience and great positive attitude, she kept us going even on those days we thought we wouldn't find "our home".

Sold a Condo home in 2011 for approximately $50K in Sacramento, CA.
Cathy was extremely helpful and instrumental in selling my property. She is not only a nice person and pleasant to deal with (which is a plus in my book) but also very knowledgeable about the Real Estate market and all it proceedings. She explains everything clearly and makes sure that you understand what is going on through the entire process. She is very attentive to detail and gets back to you in a reasonable amount of time, you are never left hanging (another plus!). She also knows what is out of her realm and will say that is for an accountant or that is for a Real Estate lawyer, i.e. she is good at pointing you in the right direction, if she knows you need that.
The sale of this property (not my primary residence) was a short sale and not an easy one. Cathy was the second agent I had trying to sell it after the first agent was not successful. The property was a condo that backed up to an eight lane busy highway so it was not the ideal place to sell and the neighborhood was so-so. The condo itself was in very good condition and was well taken care of. I think one of the biggest issues we had was convincing Bank of America (who the short sale was through) of what the value of the property was. I had had an offer using a different agent (before using Cathy) that Bank of America did not accept although it was a very good offer and I lost that buyer. The offer that Cathy was able to get was much less than the first offer because 7 months had passed and condo prices had fallen. Cathy was able to convince Bank of America that the offer she had was legitimate (in light of the most recent comps in the area for other places backed up against the highway like mine) by staying on course and not wavering. It was really pretty cool to watch this transpire...it was kind of a WOW Cool! moment as I never thought we could get Bank of America to see the light on this but Cathy persevered and it happened. The rest of the process went smoothly and we finally closed, a happy day indeed! I'm still happy about it.
One other thing that transpired was the fact that Bank of America included a letter saying that they would not take any legal action in the future for the deficiency, i.e. the difference of what I owed versus what the short sale was. That my friends was HUGE if I do say so myself.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cathy if you are needing an agent for your real estate needs.
