Doug began his real estate career in 1983. He knows the history and particulars of almost every property in the area, from maintenance issues to the nuances of north and south slopes – all the specialized knowledge that comes from experience and dedication. He is also an expert on the unique needs of second-home owners and a capable ambassador for Bay Area visitors. More Less
As one of the leading producers in the Ebbetts Pass area during all the market turns of the last three decades, Doug has handled multiple transactions for many clients. They return because of his professional ethics and honesty and because they've learned that a real estate transaction can indeed be successful when handled with skill and care.
He and Carrie married in 1978 and moved to Calaveras County in 1980 to raise their two children "with clean air, clean water, good schools and a safe community". Danielle Hardcastle (Shinn) lives with her husband JD in Stockton and they have two children, Dax and Shea. They are business owners and Danielle is also a Realtor. Danielle and JD both graduated from University of Pacific; Dani had an impressive career in the top-rated Tiger volleyball program. Dustin Shinn attended Humboldt State University where he pursued photography, climbing, and competed on the men's volleyball team. He works for Wyndham Resorts and was married on 9/10/11 to Valerie Fox. They reside in San Diego (Pacific Beach) and he is an avid and highly competitive beach volleyball player.
Doug played intercollegiate basketball and soccer at Cal Poly Pomona and graduated in 1969. He created and implemented youth outreach programs on the San Francisco peninsula and at Yosemite National Park, benefiting from professional management training with the YMCA. He has also earned valuable hands-on experience in construction and in 1994 brokered the highly successful Greenhorn Creek golf course community. In the community, he has coached youth and school teams, co-chaired school bond campaigns, and served on the local Board of Realtors.
An active athlete his entire life, Doug still enjoys volleyball, swimming, and skiing. Any day off, he looks for a quiet spot in the high country, or quality time with family.
"Going back to my early childhood, I have had a deep rooted love of mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. In 1973 I left the Bay Area for a ski weekend and I have never gone back! I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and appreciation for this special part of the Sierra, so that others too can enjoy a "Sierra Lifestyle."

As one of the Arnold areas top producing female agents, Carrie Shinn brings an impressive history of business and financial management to the real estate arena. Prior to earning her real estate license in early 2004, she served as Vice President of Finance and Human Resources, a unique blend of challenges for a nationwide customer service evaluation company. She is the rare number-cruncher who is equally comfortable dealing with people and their needs. Carrie also spent eight years with a Calaveras County vintner, eventually serving as General Manager with responsibility for production, staff, marketing, and vendor relationships at Stevenot Winery.
Carrie's specialty is her grasp of the details, capably ushering the processes inherent to any business transaction, from start to finish. She is driven by a service philosophy that emphasizes clear and timely communication and a commitment to professionalism that inspires trust in our clientele. She also manages several family commercial businesses in the Sacramento area.
Married to Doug for 33 plus years, Carrie has successfully juggled both her professional career and motherhood (chief bottle-washer goes in there somewhere as well), raising their two children, Danielle and Dustin. Danielle, 32, graduated from University of Pacific as a collegiate volleyball star then went on the international professional circuit, before settling in with a sports business in nearby Stockton. Danielle has two beautiful children, Dax, 4 ½ and Shea, nearly three, who bring Carrie constant joy. Son Dustin, 28, lives in San Diego and wed Valerie Fox in Sept. 2011. He is pursuing the sand volleyball game on southern California beaches while working in sales for a major hotel.
In the midst of it all, Carrie still finds time to read, do Sudoko and sew for relaxation, as well as running, hiking and staying active.
"I strive to utilize my keen sensitivity to the needs of individual people, developed over my years in the field of human resources management, as well as my knowledge base in the areas of finance and taxation, to offer truly personal service to my clients."
