Bought a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $650K in La Crescenta, CA.

I met Charley when he was listing a home in my old neighborhood. I liked him right off and put him on a short list of real estate agents to interview and consider, once I was ready to buy.

That time soon came, and I decided to move to La Crescenta. As a widower with a young son I wanted a good school district that was not too far from my son's friends--and mine.

Initially, Charley sent me houses online. I looked at them and if I was interested, I’d go drive by and check out the house and street. If I was still interested, Charley would set up an appointment. I looked at dozens of houses online and 8 or 10 houses in person before finding one I really liked. We wrote an offer close to asking $659,000 but once we did all our inspections, Charley renegotiated the price down $18,000 below our original offer. I initially didn’t think they would accept it but Charley said, “Let’s try it, it can’t hurt.” What further complicated matters was that this house was a probate sale and the 4 surviving children had to sign off on the lower price. Charley also got the buyer’s to give us a credit of $11,000 for a total of $29,000 off our original offer of $659,000. That was a big deal to me. I might have been able to find a house on my own, but I don't think I could have negotiated the price and reductions that Charley did. My son and I love our new house, neighborhood and school, so we really do appreciate his work on our behalf.
