Carpet vs laminate flooring?

Answer
Sorry - no on laminate.  Find a surface that doesn't scratch that has some integrity - tile, slate, polished concrete is cool.  Laminate is never liked by buyers.

We want to know our property lines. How do we find this info?

Answer
You can also have a surveyor mark the particilar boundary in question to save money. IF there is an easement - that will appear on your title insurance report - and may be plotted already.  Check there first.  Good luck to you.

Why is my next door neighbor's home valued $50,000 more than mine

Answer
Zillow is great for accessing properties - but as far as values go - I tell my clients not to look at them.  They do not have local information and often get the land size wrong - or leave out parcels.  If you want a market analysis ask a local realtor to prepare one - it is free - but, they may follow up periodically to see if you are intersted in selling!  Hope that helps.

If I am looking at a property without an agent, is it a good idea to deal with an owner/agent

Answer
I guess you've heard it.  No it's not a good idea to use the owner/agent!!If they insist, well.... no, it's still not worth the risk!!I have represented both buyer and seller in many transactions - but, I am very very very careful...I also don't want to end up being accused of favoritism!  That has never happened to me.  I am incredibly honest and fair and disclose. But, I am an exception...really!  You COULD hire a lawyer as an alternative - if you REALLY can't resist the property...and I get that.Best of luck to you, Christine

Could this be bait and switch?

Answer
Shop around.  Give the credit union, and other lenders some competition.  You'll get better rates and service.

how much do a realtor cost?

Answer
Commissions are negotiable - but it's probably wise to pay the customary rate for any area.  The seller pays the commission when the property sells (usually).   There are unique times when  buyer may agree to pay the commission.  I think you get what you pay for - so don't think I'd negotiate lower than what is customary. Hope that helps.
