Closed refinance loan. Ventura, CA
I had filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009. Because of old rules, I had to wait 4 years before I could refinance to a much lower interest rate. Much to my shock, a broker told me that I had no credit score, even though I had made mortgage payments on time for the last 4 years. I had also paid off my car about 2 years ago. Eventually I figured out the Wells Fargo refused to supply credit info to any of the reporting agencies because I had not signed a reaffirmation agreement. This agreement is no required by law and gives the lender dangerous power under certain conditions. I went through 3 lenders who refused to do a HARP re-fi because of a lack of credit info. I then contacted Courtesy Mortgage and spoke to Justin Sheftell. They specialize in difficult mortgages. Justin is a real pro and knows what buttons to push and who to talk to to fix this. The good news is that I have just refinanced through another lender, and will be saving almost $400 a month. Courtesy only arranges loans in California. If you live in another state, call Justin anyway and he will be happy to recommend a broker he works with elsewhere. You won't need a lawyer, nor have to sign a reaffirmation anything.  MoreLess
