kitchen lighting ideas...I hate halogen help!

Hello,A good way to see many different options at once is at a lighting design class. Large lighting stores sometimes have these 1hr classes that show all kinds of lights in many situations. They usually cover color temp, surface colors, and specific room lighting. I would highly recommend this to help with your decision.Dave

Hardwood Floors

Response
Usually contractors will give you free estimates. It just comes down to getting a few refinishers in San Francisco to have a look at your place. I would definitely get at least 3 estimates. It may be helpful to ask them to bring some samples. Finishing will change the darkness/shine of the floors.

Telephone wiring

Response
If you have a crawl space it is usually easer to rout the wires there. Depending on how your wall's are constructed you may have a better chance to drill a hole through the bottom plate of the wall or up through the floor. Keep in mind that electrical lines may be running though the walls. Usually electrical runs in the wall about 22" above the floor but check before doing any drilling.Telephone wire is generally 4 22/24 gauge wires. Each wire usually has insulation with a color coding. Your local hardware store should have simple screw terminal outlets with a phone jack. This may be useful:http://www.askthebuilder.com/B155_Telephone_Wiring_Tips.shtml

Foam insulation? Good/Bad?
Hello,Has anybody used foam insulation in their home remodel? It's a bit more expensive but I am wondering how much of a difference it will make. I am remodeling a home in the pacific northwest. Most months require heating.Does anybody have experience with the Corbond or InsulStar brands?

QFC suspends project on Stone Way

Response
I was in the Wallingford QFC and I overheard some visiting managers talk about a major remodel. I did not hear about a specific time line. Maybe this is why they haven't done anything on Stone Way.
