"Above and beyond the call of duty" says it all about how Debbie handled the search for and eventual purchase of our first home in the United States. We are overseas buyers and were looking to settle in a good neighborhood with good schools to raise our kids. Despite having initially contacted Debbie through the internet and meeting only once to view houses on the back of a business trip, Debbie quickly got a sense of the specific area and price point that we were interested in. She kept us abreast of new listings and price changes even though we were thousands of miles away. On the back of her email, we diverted from an Arizona business trip to see a house that ticked all the checkboxes. Long story short, we slid in with a backup offer that Debbie still made sure protected our interests as buyers. After we made our deposit we flew out to California for two days to do the house inspection and double-check our decision. This is when Debbie really shined! We flew in that morning and had the house for about five hours. We hired the inspector, but beyond that Debbie arranged everything else: a deck contractor, an architect, and the listing agent all came by one after another to give us quotes and discuss feasibility of some of the changes we wanted to do. Day 2: Debbie arranged a second contractor and then viewing of the neighboring house and another house at our request. By that time we'd received the inspection report and were comfortable enough to have Debbie negotiate on our behalf in removing contingencies. Talk about efficiency!
Overall, we felt that Debbie was always on top of things. She answered all of our questions and, despite the time difference, was able to respond to us within 24hours. We did not feel pressured and, most importantly, felt that Debbie was honest with us -both pros and cons. Beyond arranging meetings, she gave us recommendations on contractors/insurance she's used before and tips about proceeding with our purchase/renovation. She knows the area very well and could even advise us on limitations with regard to city permits, etc. I'm sure that dealing with us being overseas is unconventional to say the least, and we really don't think we would have gotten the house without Debbie's expertise and superb organization.
