There is no other person in Salem to help you with your home purchase other than Dewey! She is the go-to resource for everything you need -- before, during and even after you close on your home. She responded promptly to any inquiries, was always cheerful, pleasant adn professional. You could always feel that you had 110% of her attention, though she is definitely a busy lady. Moving from the Midwest, we only had a weekend to look at homes but she had a system, was very efficient and had an excellent grasp of what we wanted. She was a champion for your cause, and was very honest and upfront. We valued her opinion immensely, and she made everything go as smoothly as possible. Everyone she recommended was excellent -- from the loan application, inspection people, even where we bought our appliances (Kelly's) and even our cleaning lady! For me, she wasn't just any real estate agent wanting a commission -- she is actually someone whom you would want to be your friend. Anyone out there wanting to sell or buy a home, DEWEY WHITTON and the SALEM REAL ESTATE GROUP is the ONLY way to go!

Lots of insider information, even down to the best resturants, local activities, etc. Made relocating to Salem feel like coming home. We had a short window to come to Salem to look for a home, and Dewey devoted a significant amount of time, day and night to helping us. We feel great about the level of service received. In fact, my husband stated that Dewey renewed his faith in the Real Estate profession!

We had our house on sale for a long time. In our last effort we turned to Dewey who helped us stage and market the house very well. She listens to her clients and looks for the positives in a house and highlights those aspects in her marketing. When we had an offer which we found to be unreasonable, she did not hurry us and stood with us giving us encouragement that the right offer would come. I was also very impressed with insight David provided and it is a really good team which I would recommend highly.

Our house had several unusual features that Dewey Addressed and made them appealing to viewers. She conducted herself very professionaly and in a timely manor. I am a retired realtor and my expectations were high. Dewey and her Brokerage were available to answer questions and listed to ideas. Dewey produced top quality brochures and kept the flyer box full which was important because our house was not visable from the road.

There is a solid reason why 42 other reviewers are giving Dewey Whitton a 5-star review - she is a knowledgeable, patient, and best of all we found Dewey to be very "down-to-earth." We definitely connected with Dewey.
It was or first home purchase. Obviously, we were not in the "know" about the entire process. Dewey (and her office) were more than patient with the barrage of questions, meeting us after our work hours to visit properties, including incessant questions via follow up e-mails and phone calls.
Dewey was with us in mind and spirit throughout the home purchasing process, even up to and including signing our escrow loan documents. Thank you for sticking with us through the entire process!!!
I would not hesitate to recommend Dewey (or her staff) to anyone!
Thank you for making our dream home purchase a reality.

We are located in southern California and Dewey Whitton handled the selling of a home for us in Salem. Dewey's continual guidance - all long distance - throughout the entire process was beyond our expectations! She is extremely skilled and knowledgeable regarding real estate transactions. She is a very honest, professional and caring advocate who responded quickly to many problems we faced, handled a myriad of negotiations, recommended responsible help for home repairs, and handled every detail in a very excellent manner. We were extremely pleased with her service and would recommend her to anyone buying or selling a home!

Dewey was recommended to my wife and me by another realtor in Portland we had worked with to sell our home there. From the very first day we worked with her, we knew that we had made a good choice to help us find a new home in Salem! Dewey is absolutely the most professional realtor we have ever worked with. She was perceptive and knowledgeable during our house search and went out of her way to provide us with valuable community and home search information. She took the initiative on several occasions to guide us though the purchase process after we found the home we wanted, and advocated effectively for us when negotiations were required with the seller. We would happily recommend Dewey to any of our friends or family who might need realtor services in the Salem area in the future.

Dewey is the main reason we are now living in the home of our dreams. As new home buyers we had little knowledge of the process and started out not knowing exactly what we were looking for. Dewey's patience and guidance helped us fine tune our wants and needs, and her patience gave us time to work through what was really important. She is very responsive, and was obvious she cared about our little family and wanted to make sure our needs were the utmost priority. Case in point, we had given our 30 day notice on the home we were renting, the landlord rented the place out, after the sellers kept pushing the appraisal, we ended up in a situation where we could not stay at the rented house and had very little option but to stay at a hotel, move all our belongings in storage. Considering we have a baby, and a little dog this was incredibly stressful, once Dewey heard about our potential plight, she quickly acted and negotiated with the seller for us to move into the new house prior to closing. This saved us huge cost and stress. We highly recommend Dewey to any potential home buyer, it is so hard to find trustworthy and truly caring individuals who love what they do and are so good at what they do, you cannot go wrong with Dewey - Adam

The term "3 R's" often refer to some of the basics of learning. In the case of Dewey & David Whitton, as well as their whole team at Salem Real Estate, the 3 R's could also stand for Responsiveness, Respect and Results.
We once lived in Salem for 20 years but have been in Hong Kong since 1996. We sold our last home in 2000. The real estate market in Salem has changed a lot since then. While the internet is an incredible tool to locate possible homes in today's market, you still need someone on the ground who you can trust and can communicate with, knowing reliable counsel and guidance will come as soon as possible.
We found that win-win situation for both of us, as David and Dewey worked with us over a period of 4-5 months to narrow the options for our impending move back to Salem. When we hit the ground in June to check out some of those choices, we met to review our needs and decided how to best spend our time. Almost immediately we departed to see about 25 homes in 2 days, with the plan to meet a builder the third day if we didn't find a home we liked. On day two we were successful in finding the exact kind of home we were seeking, and David and Dewey helped to enable a successful offer and sale process, with helpful words all along the way.
We honestly didn't know if living overseas would hinder our efforts in house-hunting, but we are convinced that David and Dewey helped erase that concern and are a big reason for finding a home that met our needs. If they can do it for someone living across an ocean, chances are they will be most helpful in finding a great fit for you...whether you live in another state or in Oregon, in a different neighborhood or in another part of the world like us. We heartily recommend them to help with your real estate needs!

Response from Dewey

As first time homebuyers, my wife and I were overwhelmed by the whole process. Dewey takes the time to explain everything in a straightforward manner.
Dewey's best quality is that she is able to come through in times of great need. We were closing on a tight schedule (30 days) in order to get our dream house before Christmas. Every time we hit a snag with the lender, property owner, escrow, insurance company (you name it!), she was there to resolve the issue quickly and get us back on track to closing on time.
If you want the very best, choose Dewey.
