Zestimate does not reflect recent improvements
very entertaining thread, but definitely isn't relevant to the buying a home section.

Of course I'm biased, but I would recommend spending some time looking through our real estate market report data (they cover 160 MSAs).

Thanks for the suggestion. To be clear -- you're asking for a category specifically for realtors and lenders to talk to each other, correct?

And lastly, regarding the lack of responses that Ed mentioned. Unfortunately, as I've said before, we are a media company and do not have the luxury of staffing a large customer service team. We aren't staffed up to respond to 100% of inquiries.
Another issue we've discussed is that Zillow does not manually change zestimates, which is the only thing that would completely satisfy many of the zestimate inquiries wondering why their zestimate value are off base. Instead, we use all the feedback we get to improve the overall zestimate algorithms. Note that just because you don't see an immediate result does not mean we aren't doing anything to improve zestimate accuracy.

And about the specific home mentioned, the fact that you edited your home facts awhile ago means that they are already being used in the zestimate algorithm. Therefore, in the my estimator tool, it shows no impact since those home facts are the current home facts being used in the zestimate algorithm.
I went into the my estimator for your home and changed it to 1 bath and 2 bedroom -- that showed a 20k decrease in value. What are you seeing?

We've been back and forth on all these issues before. Our data team looked into the claiming issue and confirmed it is not an this issue. To be VERY clear -- claiming a home is different than editing the home facts of a home. I never said editing home facts does not impact your zestimate value.
You may not like it, but the notion that a Zestimate is a starting point is true and something you will continue to see us repeat over and over in this forum. Buyers who cite a low zestimate are likely using it as a negotiating ploy to get a lower price. Just as a seller would likely cite a high zestimate in the hopes of getting a higher price. Many local markets are in decline, which means buyers have more leverage now than they did 2 years ago.
Zillow has an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau
