Depeding on which type of financing you choose, FHA etc. It is a public safety requirement predicated by the government as some people do not keep their word to fix things, therefore the lender could be liable IE: Legionaires disease which ultimately was traced to the hot water heating system that killed many people. Google it. How did this issue come up? was it through a home inspection? Which by the way is a good idea.Good Luck,Larry

Check with the NY department of RE, you may only be required to take a written test as it is in many other states in the USA, if you currently hold a valid RE license.. Also I believe you would be better off going the RE route because if you think about it you could do loans nationwide with the right broker versus doing local appraisals "IF" you could find them in a local market.Good Luck My Friend!Larry
