Jane has represented us in buying, selling and even renting homes. I wouldn't consider asking anyone else to help us. As a lending executive in the Washington area, I've met most of the top agents, and many others, and no one matches Jane's expertise regarding the market and the real estate sales process. Her emphasis on relentlessly seeking market feedback AND responding to it is the most cogent approach to selling a home that I've ever heard articulated. She emphasizes brokers' opens to get professional feedback early, on listing, and follows up effectively with buyers' agents immediately after showings to keep the home top of mind with potential buyers as they compare homes and make their decisions.
Buying and selling homes is an emotional process with financial impact - the perfect formula for generating stress. The only antidote I've found for that is to get the absolutely best representation I can - and I always have found that in Jane Fairweather.

I would not recommend Jane Fairweather as a realtor. Was very responsive and attentive to our house and our needs prior to signing the listing agreement. She came up with a great price for the house but after a week of no action, she told us the market changed, it was no longer a spring market and told us we had to lower the price or the house would never sell. She also told us that open houses aren't necessary but the brokers open is very important. When the brokers open had a poor turnout, she then changed her story and told us the brokers open weren't important. We ended up making changes to the house (painting every room in the house) which at first she told us wasn't necessary, but that changed as well after the listing agreement was signed and there was no action on the house. We ended up having direct communication with the buyers and the buyers agent because there were too many people involved on Jane's team and the communication was lacking and the response time was poor. Several people that had used Jane in the past told us to be careful because they used her and had a poor experience as well. She came as a referral through a great friend, so we thought we wouldn't have the same experience we were warned about--we were wrong. There are many realtors to choose from and if we had to do it over again, we would definitely use a different realtor.

Sorry that your take away in working with me was as disconcerting as you represented. I am, however, thankful that I was successful in selling your home in 35 days at 98.5% list to sold price, after a small price adjustment following market feedback.
It's important readers understand that your house was extremely customized to a point that every buyer who walked in was overwhelmed. It became clear that every room, hallway, ceiling, & bathroom needed to be neutralized in order to appeal to buyers.
Home values are fluid & can change rapidly. Value is not what I say it is, or what you would like it to be. It is based on what buyers perceive it to be. Buyers spoke loud & clear about what they thought your house was worth & a corrective measure was taken in order to get your house sold.

She had good ideas and knowledge when she first looked at our house about eight months before when we planned to sell our house. However, she did not communicate with us again until about a month before our planned date to put the house on the market. At this time, she persuaded us to put the house on the market earlier than we had planned (which turned out to be a mistake) at a price that all of the other realtors said during the open house was too high. After lowering the price, she persuaded us to accept an offer that we thought was much too low. At the same time, we did not realize that her mode of sale did not allow us or her to receive other offers (or even be aware of other offers), which would have been very helpful while we were negotiating with the prospective buyers.
Jane's team was a pleasure to work with. From the initial consultation to the closing, I felt I was in good hands every step of the way. No detail was overlooked and all my concerns were addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. I would not hesitate to work with them again.
