My 7 siblings and I were raised in Grafton, Wisconsin which is a bit north of Milwaukee. A large family is in constant motion! I don't know how my parents managed to keep us all fed, clothed and in the right place at the right time much less have time to work. It was crazy but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Okay, so maybe there were couple of times growing up that I would have liked my own room or fewer ‘hand-me-downs'. It may not have been perfect, but the fact is we had it pretty darn good. Our parents loved us!
I married a Maniac (aka: person from Maine) and we raised 3 great children in Bethel. They were all born here in CA. We moved to Maine near family and yet as each graduated from high school they migrated back to CA. What are parents to do! Move? Yes! And that's what we did. We sold everything, packed-up and followed them back to CA. We didn't want to just see the kids once or twice a year. We wanted to be part of their lives; and as it turns out, our grandchildren's lives too!
Our transition back to CA in 2003 was just meant to be. We landed in Placerville and have never looked back. The foothills are home to us. We have never felt so ‘at home' as we do here. We love not only what El Dorado Co. has to offer, but also its proximity to everything. Any type of activity you would like to participate in is available within a few hours travel. Our favorite activities include: hiking, photography, camping and ‘rockhounding'. We have also been known to sneak off to the coast on occasion.
Tim and I have invested in a variety of Real Estate for more than 25 yrs. (both in ME and CA) in addition to working and raising a family. We have had residential and commercial rental property, built spec homes, and have experience with fix-n-flip investments. A few of lessons learned – 1) working with your spouse/partner isn't always fun, 2) no two projects are the same even when you think they are, 3) working with your spouse/partner isn't always fun; 4) most things will cost more than anticipated; 5) working with your spouse/partner isn't always fun, and 6) have a plan and execute the plan. We actually do work well together as our skills, his construction and mine design, complement each other very well.
It's this experience that led me to become a Realtor®. My family thought I was nuts to obtain a license in 2008 when then housing market was in a free fall; however, my past clients' testimonials and top achiever status beginning in 2010 is evidence that I have made the right choice. My clients benefit from my experience sitting on both sides of the table – the consumer side and the professional side.
