Bought a home in 2013.

We were getting ready to repatriate to the US after many years living and working in Asia and needed to find a place to live. We had the good fortune to work with Spence Ralston. Despite having only limited time on-the-ground in Santa Fe, Spence was extremely flexible and was very respectful of the guidelines we had given him concerning budget and type of housing.

Negotiations, inspection and closing were all completed under the supervision of Spence while we were back in Asia. Everything went very smoothly. Spence did a great job of keeping us up to date via phone and email. We did not physically arrive in Santa Fe until a month after closing and when we arrived at our new home, everything was move-in ready thanks to Spence.

We love our new home and would not hesitate to recommend Spence. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional and a very pleasant person to work with.

Bought a home in 2012.

I am an out of state buyer. The day I entered my house, after having bought it, I was told by Spence to "call a plumber" to turn on the water and hot water tank, even though I had paid to have those turned on. I brought a water key with me and was able to get the water on. I did not have hot water because neither I nor a handyman could get the hot water heaters lit. The next day, when a plumber was finally summoned, I received a $600 plumbing bill for repairs that Spence should have discovered during the inspection I paid $500 for. When I told him he needed to show some attention and compassion, he hung up on me. As the handyman stated at the time "I would be pretty angry to not be able to take a shower in my new house." I agreed. Three weeks later, there has not been amends on Spence's part or on the part of Coldwell Banker, altho the owner of the franchise knew about the situation, nor has there been any comment about my having to pay $600 for immediate repairs upon closing. I know how to turn on water and how to turn on a hot water heater. But, having spent a great deal on a new home, and having just paid to have these things turned on, the real estate broker should have assured everything was working. I would not recomend Spence Ralston nor Coldwell Banker. I am sure there are other capable real estate agents in Santa Fe. I plan to find them.

After nearly a year working with this individual and receiving laudatory comments on my service throughout that time, and helping get a fantastic deal, I certainly regret that this client is dissatisfied. Let me just say that there are two sides to every story. I am a top agent and can provide all kinds of testimonials from satisfied clients throughout my career. I bear no ill-will and, despite what I feel is an unfair characterization of me and my agency, still have a high regard and respect for this individual.
