Summary:

Greg gave me the exact information I needed to make an informed the decision. The interesting thing is that I wasn't even getting my loan through him. I started halfway through the process with another provider when I met Greg. Through this process I looked to him as a trusted advisor. I felt much more comortable and confident in talking with Greg than anyone I met in my refinance effort. In fact I think 20 minutes of talking with him pretty much equaled about 2.5 weeks of working with my existing servicer and about 1 month of research on my own. He was very patient and thorough in explaining things to me and followed up with me on several occasions. Summary:

Greg worked diligently to secure a refi for us. He was up front about our chances and made clear he would not over promise or under deliver. He was very responsive to all calls or e-mails, returning them within minutes. Most importantly, he is an expert on mortgages and banking and gave us helpful advice. In the end we were undone by a low appraisal, but even after that Greg didn't give up, pursuing several more options in an effort to secure our loan. Summary:

Even with high credit scores and the ability to make a large down payment, we learned that financing a home purchase can be a difficult task in today's market--thanks largely to the new appraisal rules. We are therefore very glad that we decided to go with Greg Darlin as our mortgage broker. Yes, he got us a very fair deal (and we watched the rates and fees offered by others), but even more importantly, he was a problem solver when everyone else told us that the deal was dead. He is honest, stands by his word, is your advocate when things get tricky, spots problems and offers solutions before they are really problems, and was very responsive--not only to me, but also to others involved in the transaction. Perhaps what is most telling is that the real estate agents that were horrified when they learned that we had selected a mortrgage banker online universally praised Greg by name at the closing as the hero who got the job done.
