Also when I take my clients to builders, I look out for my clients' interests as the sales reps represent only the builder. Yes, you can buy a second home if your loan officer determines that you qualify for another loan. However, be cautious about the possibility of paying two mortgages if for some reason your first home has trouble renting. 

Look for the images of the premier agents in your zip code. When you click on the button to contact them, it should allow you to email them or provide you with a number to call them. Give them the property address and they should be able to give you pertinent details on it. Good luck!

I would suggest meeting with a realtor and a loan officer--the latter will require a few documents to prequalify you. Once you have a price range to work with, the realtor can start a search for you. That will show you your options in terms of affordability and your search will get narrowed down. As you know condos and town homes are different life style choices. And you do need to factor in your commute to work as well. Great idea to take advantage of the current market and low interest rates. I have helped many clients with their first homes in NoVa and would be happy to do the same for you.
