Got me all in on a rental, all the way to application. Then came the weirdness... despite 5 years of uninterrupted work at a high salary, impeccable credit, no history of any late payments... "can you provide a W-2"? Apparently the owner was suddenly needed to check up further on me, and then decided not to rent the property altogether... even though I reluctantly provided the W-2.
The process fell through despite the W-2, and Ms. Hedstrom never felt the need to find me a replacement. To this date, I wish I'd asked one of my friends to reapply, to confirm a nagging suspicion that the property was still on the market and available only to a certain shade of candidate.
Luckily, found a much better property close by with a great landlord, thanks to an agent who knew how to pick a seller, and follow through to a deal close.
