Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $450K in Raleigh, NC.
Highly recommend Irene! In fact I have recommended her several times to friends and co-workers!!
To start from the beginning – my husband and I relocated from Baltimore to Raleigh in July 2014. We learned of the relocation in March 2013 and right away, I contacted a realtor to start the house hunting process (not Irene). After two house hunting trips, I had enough of him.
From the moment first spoke with Irene, I knew I was going to have a good experience. She acknowledged how stressful and difficult the house buying process is, especially when you are not from the area. She also explained that her goal is to make sure we are educated about the pros/cons of areas around Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park.
In addition to moving out of state, I had an accident in May on was unable to put weight on my right foot for 5 weeks. I was miserable – confined to a chair most of the month. I emailed Irene constantly, as the only way to divert attention from my miserable injury was to house hunt online. Irene was so patient, there were times when I sent her 20 houses in email and she would send me back her thoughts on them – not in the right area, traffic would be an issue, backyard slopes too much….she would even drive by some to get a sense of the neighborhood if she was not familiar with the area. It was so helpful to narrow down the list by the time we were able to visit Raleigh in person.
We visited Raleigh for a house-hunting trip in June and Irene had it so well organized that we visited areas including Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, Apex, South Raleigh, and North Raleigh in about a 3-day timeframe. She was so efficient we wrapped up a day early. Not only did she inform us of the area, but she also told us things we had no idea about such as Pittsboro just approved a new huge development expected to bring 60,000 people to the town. She also told us about the extension of I-540 that may affect home values in South Raleigh. All things our other realtor did not mention.
We continued to email back and forth after the house-hunting trip and we finally arrived in Raleigh in July. Irene was so professional and helpful I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful she was – my husband and I had very different thoughts but we knew we needed to explore before deciding. We spent so much time with Irene it was as if we were her only client (which I know was not true but that is how she made us feel). She drove us around – Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Apex, Durham, Raleigh, no joke we probably saw over 80 houses. There was a weekend where we took a break from house-hunting and we actually missed seeing Irene! She truly treats you like family.
We narrowed down our neighborhood to two – Stonebridge in North Raleigh and Wendy Hill in Apex. When the only house for sale in Wendy Hill was too pricey – Irene sent letters to every home in the neighborhood asking if they were interested in selling! Again going above and beyond. We actually got two responses.
We put in an offer on a house and Irene was there every step of the way – helping us through the negotiations, inspections, and closing process. During closing we worked very closely with Irene and another closing agent Chris Gaster – he was fantastic. When we had questions about the house – both he and Irene were on top of it contacting the seller’s agent and getting the information we needed to make informed decisions. Their professionalism and their knowledge of real estate in the area saved us thousands of dollars in the closing process. Just on example – Irene thought there might have been a HOA transfer fee so she put it in the initial sales contract to be paid by seller. When we went to closing the other realtor said the transfer fee should be paid by us, but Irene already had it spelled out in the contract – saved us $1000!
After the sale, we experienced a few issues and Irene was right there helping us resolve them. They are true professionals. I would not hesitate to recommend Irene.
I'm from DC area and worked with Irene in finding investment property in the Cary/Morrisville area. Irene was simply wonderful to work with. Her enthusiasm, patience, and responsiveness were outstanding. As an out of state investor, I gave her my criteria early on and she made sure she identified those properties that fit what I was looking for. I would gladly work with Irene again in the future and highly recommend her.

Around the same time I also recommended my aunt and cousin to deal with her in the purchase of their townhouses in the same development. Very cordial, and attentive to our needs. When we moved from East TN to Charlotte NC, Irene helped us look at a various different neighborhoods in the area. she helped us understand the job market in the area and what best value of a home we could get for our money. this included her assistant in identifying the school district zone for our new home and one that we really like which was very important to us since we have 2 young children going in to kindergarten. As first time buyer, irene made the whole process seems to be very simple and made us feel at ease. we felt very satisfied with services received by irene mistretta because she went over and beyond what we expected from a real estate agent! Irene showed us about 6 homes that we really like and guided us to narrow them down to 3 and final picked our dream home. She was very patient with us! We will use irene mistretta as our realtor again when we get ready to upgrade to a bigger house in the future!

I purchased a home from Irene in 2012 and found her to be very knowledgeable, informative and responsive to all my questions and concerns. Irene provided me with a clear understanding of what to expect and everything went as planned. The home buying process was an excellent experience and Irene far exceeded my expectations for a realtor. Irene is dependable, attentive, detail orientated, understanding and honest. Her flexibility in her schedule made viewing homes easy and pleasurable! I didn’t feel any pressure during the process and am quite happy with the outcome.
