Our 86 year old house was inspected, appraised, cleaned, sanded, cosmetically painted, and assessed by a professional stager, before contacting Doug to list the house. This prep work was worth every penny. We contacted Doug and his listing and the sale of our home was very straightforward. Doug is eager to please. He is an expert in what/how properties sell in a historic/landmark district. He has patience. He lives locally and is in tune to the demographic shifts and how to best sell a precious but aged property . Our decision to use Doug was based on his communication savvy. . I needed someone who could text, email, fax in real time. I live 150 miles away. Our house sale took 7 months(winter) from listing to closing(summer). If you are reasonable and take a good look at how an aging Douglas Manor presents to a buyer, Home NY will guide you.

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $975K in Douglaston-Little Neck, Flushing, NY.

Buying a house is a stressful and lengthy process, especially for my husband and I who were anxiously to become the first time home owners. Douglas Montgomery really demonstrated his professionalism as a real estate agent and, as he said at the very beginning, “guide[d] us through the entire process.” We really appreciate his tremendous help and support so It's with great pleasure that I am able to review and recommend Douglas. First of all, we were really lucky one day to see Douglas’ listing which pulled out our attention from other areas of the city to the lovely neighborhood where eventually we found our home. Douglas was extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about the unique history and characteristics about the neighborhood and houses. Unlike other realtors, he was very honest and confrontational about the drawbacks and things that we should be aware of. He serves/is actively involved in the Real Estate Ethical Board and the local garden club. His candidness and expertise really helped build trust and friendship among us. Therefore we asked him to be our buying agent (I personally really liked his listing but it doesn’t fit our need due to the walking distance). We actually debated over whether we should get a buying agent as we heard many negative aspects of involving a buying agent as opposed to dealing with a selling agent directly in the tough real estate market. However, with hindsight, we are glad and never regret of getting Douglas as our buying agent. He is trustworthy and helped us make right decisions. As a first time home buyer, we had endless questions. He has always been patient with us and addressed our inquiries and concerns with quick turnarounds. He also helped us bridge with Seller/agent. He and his inspection guy helped us evaluate significant concerns we had on the houses we were seriously considering in a timely fashion, for which we were extremely appreciative. Douglas’ other team members, Laurie, his assistant/agent, Keith Angerame, the attorney, were also very good, providing timely support with reasonable fees. Douglas also continues to provide us tips and recommendations after we closed our home purchase. We highly recommend him and his team.

Sold a home in 2011.

I've nerver written a "fan" letter for a Realtor. In fact. all my dealings with Realtor, both as a buyer and a seller , have been cordial but unremarkable up till now. But given the excellent attention Douglas afforded to selling my mother's home in Douglaston, I am compelled to let you know how great the experience was and how grateful I am.

When he first said that I could relax and would handle everything, I was skeptical. Given that I am living in Connecticut and my mother's house was in Queens, I thought I would be traveling back and forth to attend to the various problems and situations that popped up. He allayed my fears very quickly. He literally took care of everything. I barely went back to the house and he kept me in the loop at all times.

He was very realistic with expectations about selling, from the price that it would go for and how it would sell. I was concerned that the house would be bought and then knocked down for new constuction. Beyond the sentimental value of the home to me, the shame of potentially destroying such a well-constructed (even in disrepair) house was unsettling, but he kept saying the right people would love it and buy it.In fact, unlike other realtors, he showed genuine enthusiasm for the house I trusted him more, I realized the true worth of it. My fears of it being viewed only as a severed fixer-upper were dispelled.

Also to his credit, he suggested minor, inexpensive repairs that he believed would increase the value, while respecting that I wanted to sell the house "as is"That would have been enough but he also arranged the labor to be done by competent workers in short time. Again I trusted and again, I was pleasantly surprised.

I have no doubt that we sold the house in a tough market at what I believe to be a fair price due to his tireless efforts. I noticed some other properties that were on the market before my mother's and were not sold by the time we closed on hers. We sold to a family that I believe will get many years of pleasure in the house as my family had. That is priceless for a home that meant so much to me.

I will be honest-there were other realtors I interviewed who offered to sell at a lower commission than his, but I am very glad I opted for his services rather than being "penny-wise and ound-foolish," And I need to point out that his commission was hardly out of line with most realtors. I am just very glad to have contraced with him and don't regret a single interaction we had.

Thank you for everything and if anyone eer wants to sell or buy a home in your area, I can recommend you highly without reservation

Sold a home in 2011 in College Point, Queens, New York, NY 11356.

Dear Zillow Viewers, I couldn’t say enough about good things about the job J. Douglas Montgomery did for me. After finding out about him, we worked out a plan to maximize the equity of my realty asset. We determined the most prudent things that we needed to do to have the property on the market in market ready condition. Through a lot of hard work with my family, Douglas and his team all went very well. The open house we held was enormously successful due to his superior placement of advertisement and the house sold quickly. The attorney he uses, Keith Angeramie, also made the closing process run very smooth. Douglas aside from being a real estate genius is involved in many civic and professional associations and is a very fine cook as well.

Sold a home in 2010 in Douglaston-Little Neck, Queens, New York, NY 11362.

Douglas was great to work with. He gave me great advice, got me a fabulous price for my house in a difficult market, had a team in place to handle all aspects of the deal, and became a friend and an ongoing resource for me when I had questions and needed resources for other deals.

Douglas sold the neighbors house first. Douglas is an avid gardener and on the board of the local garden club. My house had a beautiful garden so we got to talking. Douglas seemed like a very nice guy. Family man. Involved in the community. Lives in the community, in Douglas Manor. Very polite and gracious...a gentleman.

When I decided to sell I was referred to and checked out the other agents in the Douglaston/Little Neck area. Most of them seemed to be resting on their laurels, their longer history in the neighborhood. Douglas is newer but not certainly not new to Douglaston. He is motivated and a performer. Douglas wants to take over the real estate business in the neighborhood and, in a friendly way, is working hard and building relationships to make that happen. So, even though he was a little more expensive, I went with Douglas because it was obvious he was on top of the neighborhood and his game.

During our working relationship Douglas helped me and the local garden club by delivering a lot of stuff I was trying to get rid of during my move to a garden club sale. Great win win win creation.

Douglas has a great attorney he works with to close. He was reasonably priced as well as, gracious and professional like Douglas. They worked together at HUD for 10 plus years and did many, many deals together so they work seamlessly as a team.

I consider myself lucky to have had Douglas' support through my transaction and consider him a friend and an ally.
