Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $800K in Columbia, MD.
Jan Schaefer is a rare find in the world of real estate agents. Having bought and sold eight personal homes I know what I am looking for in a real estate agent. When my family relocated to Columbia Jan listened carefully to our requirements, was professional and thorough in the presentation of properties that met our needs, was efficient in the use of our time, was completely honest in whether a home was correctly priced or not for the market, gave us clear opinions when we asked for them, and understood how to get to the bottom line of the business transaction side of the home purchase. With the world full of real estate agents of all quality, and home prices that range from being fairly to ridiciously priced, it can be frustrating for an individual or couple who are moving to a new area to get the right fit. Sold a Townhouse home in 2013 in Laurel, MD.
We have bought two houses and sold one, all with Jan. She is wonderful!
My husband and I met her back in 2007, before the crash, when she was selling a house we were thinking of buying. We had no realtor and decided against buying a home at that time, but a year later when we were ready, we looked her up because we had been so impressed with her kindness and easy-going attitude. She is organized, responsive and attentive. As a novice to the entire process, I usually have a lot of questions and she is incredibly patient. She really knows the business and is quick to recommend good service providers, such as home inspectors, cleaners, chimney sweeps, etc. (she herself is picky, so if she recommends someone you can be sure they have been fully vetted.) We have only had an issue with one of the service providers she recommended and when we told her we were dissatisfied, she immediately advocated on our behalf and the work was redone to our specifications.
She has years of experience and has knowledge of many Howard County neighborhoods. We've recommended her to several friends and will again!…More Less

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $425K in Severna Park, MD.
My husband and I had the great fortune of working with Jan when we relocated to the Baltimore area in the summer of 2012. With this being our third relocation, we had plenty of experience working with residential real estate professionals. And by far, Jan is THE BEST we have worked with to date.
We found her to be friendly, knowledgeable and extremely thorough. And despite the fact that it took us a good bit longer to identify the "right" home for our family, Jan maintained her patience and positive demeanor throughout our search.
