I spent over 10 years in Japan working at high tech companies, such as Texas Instruments and taught computer graphics at universities and colleges. Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $650K in Somerset, Bellevue, WA.

It has been a great experience working with Jim from the start. Every trip was well prepared and I'd have a good mental picture before we take off. He'd always have a custom brochure printed out with a map of all the units we were visiting that day followed by the details of those units. The routes are planned well and schedules made accordingly for non-vacant homes. It was very reassuring to know that he does his best to plan out according to whatever schedule I request, even the last minute changes. We covered mainly Seattle and Bellevue, condos and single family homes. He was always focused on providing me all the relevant information to best help me to make good decisions. Because of his experience, he could talk about the area, its history, its reputation, and what key aspects to pay attention to. Within the house, I'd ask him about everything from the condition of the house to what materials something is made of and always get a good answer from him. Eventually I start to ask him about everything of the home buying process and not just home search, including loans and insurance and more. When it comes down to making offers there are a lot of details I've noticed and appreciated what Jim has done. There were offers I've made that had all kinds of requests, sometimes I know are hard to ask for. Jim was best in that he would let me make my decision and then communicate that or negotiate with other agents or people involved to get things done. Lastly, my most enjoyable part was that it became not just a house hunt trip, where I get shown units and then say yes or no. Every trip was a good discussion, lesson, strategic planning, and mixed with every day chatting. As much as he was a trusted agent, he has become a great friend as well.  More Less

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $900K in North Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.

As a US expat living overseas with my wife, a Chinese national, I was fortunate to find Jim’s contact details online while searching for a new home in the US. Jim seemed to really stand out from the other property agents we came in contact with. He was very informed and current in his market research, extremely cordial and patient--and most important to my wife and me as overseas buyers--very thorough and resourceful in answering all our questions about the process of buying a home in the US, which was quite new to us. When we made the trip from Asia to meet with Jim to view properties, Jim made sure to schedule in a block of time on successive days throughout the entire duration of our trip to ensure that we were able to see enough properties that fit out requirements, and to also help us refine our criteria as we continued our property search. At the start of each day we spent with him, Jim would provide us with a small booklet of information on the homes we were to see and the neighborhoods in which they were located, which was very helpful in given us a better understanding of the homes and districts we had identified, thanks to Jim’s extremely helpful input and local knowledge. By the end of the week that we spent with Jim inspecting both houses and condos, we felt prepared and confident about purchasing a home Jim had shown us early on in our search. Through his extensive network of fellow-brokers and consultants, Jim was able to put us in touch with mortgage brokers, home inspectors and insurers, and other specialists who were key to our closing on our new home in a timely manner. From start to finish, the time it took from our initial search to our close on our new home was a bit over six weeks, with all subsequent discussions with Jim after our first visit handled remotely while we were oversea, thanks to Jim’s fantastic responsiveness by phone, email, and SMS. Even after we closed on our new home, Jim went far above and beyond what you would expect a typical real estate agent to do by looking after our home in our absence and ensuring that security—and even some queries from our new neighbors—were handled in our absence. Indeed, my wife and I have been so impressed by Jim’s sincerity and his commitment that we have decided to retain Jim as our property leasing agent. How fortunate we were as overseas homebuyers to find a real estate broker and leasing agent of Jim’s caliber, and someone we are pleased to today consider a good friend.  More Less
