Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $300K in Berkley, MI.
My wife and I had the great experience of having Jim help us purchase a home in Berkley. After all of the horror stories that friends have had in dealing with real estate agents it was a very welcomed surprise when we started working with Jim. He understood exactly what my wife and I were looking for in a home, only showed us properties of which we were interested and were within our price range (which a LOT of agents will disregard!), was ALWAYS available to talk, and put ZERO pressure on us. Jim's assertiveness and attention to detail are excellent - traits that are key in a very hot market like today (you cannot 'wait a few days' on ANY homes! They are selling in less than 48hrs in a lot of communities). I have already recommended Jim to many friends/coworkers - and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Sold a Condo home in 2013 in Farmington Hills, MI.
Jim sold my condominium in Farmington Hills within 5 days and got a much higher price then I expected. He gave me excellent advice how to prep. and stage the condo prior to the sale. I'm sure his advice helped to make the sale go so quickly.

Everything from the Purchase Agreement to the Closing went smooth and as planned.

I knew Jim had a lot of real estate knowledge in the Royal Oak, Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods area but he also proved he is very successful in other areas of Metro Detroit.

Jim was very knowledgeable about the area and was really good at helping me determine what exactly I was looking for. As a first time home buyer I had a very vague idea of what to look for and the first time we met he took me around to a few houses in the area of various states of repair to help determine what my limits were in the amount of work required. We met with Jim on a Friday to get a feel for what he thought if we chose him to list our house. By Monday we had an offer without ever having to list the house, go through the open house, etc. The pricing was right on, and even when it looked like things might go a little astray both parties agreed to some concessions, and everything went smoothly in the end with us getting what we wanted. Jim Shaffer does sell Ferndale - no question! He also has good taste balanced with real estate knowledge and savvy.

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $125K in Ferndale, MI.
My husband and I worked with Jim on the purchase of our first home in May of 2013. As first time home buyers, we had a lot of questions. Jim understood our situation, stayed within our price range and answered all of our questions. Since our budget was very strict along with our requirements (3 bedroom, garage, close to downtown Ferndale, ideally $100k with max $150k) we were worried we wouldn't be able to find what we were looking for. Jim assured us that we would find it. The search process was even fun with Jim; he has a great personality and we felt comfortable with him immediately. We saw around 15 homes in a month and a half. With the current market, we expected search to go on much, much longer and to lose a bid or three along the way. We were wrong!

The day our home went on the market, Jim called me and said we needed to go see it ASAP. His exact words were "Your house just went on the market." I think it had been listed for maybe 5 minutes before he called. We went to see it a few hours later and he was right, we loved it! All our requirements plus more and right at our ideal price of $105k. The market is very competitive in Ferndale and we had heard many heart-breaking stories of lost bids, so we considered offering over asking price. Jim said no, offer asking price and he would take care of the rest. 2 hours later our offer was accepted!

We could not be happier with our experience with Jim Shaffer. As long as he is selling in the Ferndale market, we will be his clients. His knowledge of the area, connections and negotiation skills are tops. We have already recommended him to everyone we talk to about our home buying process.
