Ratings & Reviews

I had the unique challenge of searching for a new home in San Diego, CA while still stationed overseas, literally on the other side of the dateline at Guam. So I needed a good agent who was intimately familiar with the area I was interested in and had the patience of working with a client who did not have the luxury of personally viewing each and every property that became available. Jim was an all-star and delivered big time. It was a six month process but I got the home I was looking at the area I was interested in. Jim was innovative and sincere. He personally viewed properties that he felt fit my taste and provided prompt honest feedback every time. As an example, one property early on our search became available and had the view, size, location, and was within budget. It looked very appealing online but my work schedule prohibited me from flying to California to view it. He viewed it for me during its first showing weekend and was sincerely honest in his opinion. The home was perfect except that he felt it had a foundation issues or had the serious potential of having major foundation issues in the future. His description were specific enough to reassure me that he was not only knowledgeable in the business but also had eye for finding blemishes within a home. That was all I needed to hear from him and we continued our search. The properties which which he felt were really ideal for me he made videos for me to view (some had funny narratives). I got a good feel of the home while viewing his videos from halfway around the world. Although it was a gruelling exhaustive search through that late spring and summer, I never felt the Jim rushed me into any decision. His patience persevered as he was open to do whatever legwork was necessary to find a home that was best for me. We made a few offers and during that process I also got a good sense of Jim's attention to detail. He walked me through every portion of the offer sheets in great detail and also on the counter offers we received. Ultimately we found the perfect home but ran into a timing issue with the seller. They were not ready to move out by the time I was transferring to San Diego. Again Jim delivered as he crafted up a rent provision in the offer. In the end, I got the home I wanted and have been thoroughly satisfied with the whole experience thanks mainly to Jim!

Sold a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $475K in Lakeside, CA.

We recently closed on the sale of our first house with Jim and we can't say enough good things about him! From the first email he was friendly, professional, flexible and honest. We had many questions through the process and he was always patient with us explaining everything step by step, sometimes more than once. We have recommended him to everybody we know and would definatly use him again if we have any realestate needs!

Sold a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $775K in Point Loma Heights, San Diego, CA.

After buying and selling several homes, I finally found an agent who really know how to do his job. The time and effort Jim put into the marketing of our home in Point Loma was more than expected. In fact, everything Jim did was above and beyond the "call of duty." From picking up our mail when we were out of town to just stopping in and checking on things, etc. Jim was there for all the inspections as well as always being available if we had any questions and/or needed some advise. From listing to closing it was a joy to work with a true professional.

Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $350K in Murrieta, CA.

Jim was the perfect realtor for us. Our house-hunting process was very drawn out due to our struggle to sell our home. However, Jim was incredibly patient and maintained a reasonable (non-intrusive) level of communication with us. He adjusted quickly to changes in our timeline, price point, and wishlist. Our negotiation, which involved a very prickly seller, was handled beautifully! He got us a beautiful house for a reasonable price, and I could not recommend him more highly.

Sold a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $775K in Scripps Ranch, San Diego, CA.

Jim worked with us tirelessly over many months to help us find the right house. He made a special effort to make himself available to view the many houses we saw. He was always on time, always helpful and never rushed us in our deliberations. Jim also oversaw the selling of our house and sacrificed many Saturday's to be present when our house was open to viewing. His warmth, friendly manner and professional approach were attributes we came to highly appreciate in the strategic role that he played for us.

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $425K in Lake Murray, San Diego, CA.

When we decided that we wanted to start the search for our first home, we were both nervous and excited. We contacted Jim at Decision Realty Group after our close family friends referred him and we are SO glad that we did! After our first meeting with Jim our apprehension was washed away and we were confident that we would be able find the perfect home for us. It was clear immediately that integrity and communication are as important to Jim as they are to us, so working with him was a breeze. He made himself available to us (by phone, text and email) to answer any and all questions that we had. This was important to us since, as inexperienced home shoppers, we relied heavily on his experience to help guide us through the major task of purchasing a home.

With the automated filtered listing updates and his own insights, we actually had a lot of fun searching for a home. Even though we are a young couple with high expectations, Jim never made us feel like we needed to compromise, settle, or rush through the home buying process. He was very patient with us, even as our criteria changed based on our own understanding of what we valued in a home. When it came down to the business of writing an offer and keeping up with the intense schedule that follows, Jim was amazing. In fact, while there are clearly a lot of moving pieces that must be managed, Jim kept everything so organized and communicated to us perfectly what was required of us, what was required of the seller and what the potential outcomes could be following each step.

The home that we chose was a 'flipped' property, being worked on by licensed contractors and sold by investors. It turns out that the contractors that the investors hired were working with expired and suspended licenses. This is when Jim's experience really paid off for us. Recognizing the potential for such issues in a 'flipped' property, he had the sellers complete a specialized renovation disclosure which served to identify and protect us from a "lipstick job" (Jim's term for a remodel which is poorly done and simply covers up the real issues with the house). This disclosure stated that the work was done by licensed contractors, and since we learned that the licenses were invalid (Jim looked up the contractors license numbers), Jim had them hire new licensed contractors to review the work that was done and sign off on the work. While no new repairs came out of these reviews, it did provide peace of mind for my husband and I as well as the inherent protection of using licensed contractors.

When we met to get the keys to our house, Jim and his family were waiting for us to welcome us to our new home. It was very special, and we are so grateful for all he did to help us buy our dream home.

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $400K in La Mesa, CA.

Jim Long was an amazing real estate agent. We highly recommend. He was personable, honest, patient, and very kind. He helped us find our dream house, which as first time home buyers, was more than we could have imagined for ourselves. He worked with us for over a year and showed us over 80 houses with no complaint. He asked us very detailed questions to make sure he was looking for what we wanted. His wife was so kind to give us a beautiful housewarming gift basket as well to celebrate our purchase. We now call Jim our friend, not only our real estate agent. He handles business with the utmost integrity and professionalism. We give him our STRONGEST recommendation.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $400K in Santee, CA.

Jim was the best at helping us find our wonderful new home. We gave him the information as to what was important to us and he ran with it. He worked around our schedules and came to our home on numerous occasions to patiently explain all the paperwork. He was always in contact with us and even helped with information for our lender and escrow offices. We ended up finding the perfect home for our family. I would highly recommend Jim to friends and family. Thanks Jim for all your hard work!

Sold a Condo home in 2012 for approximately $375K in Santee, CA.

I asked a co-worker who had just bought a house if she knew of a good real estate agent she would recommend. She said she was impressed with not her agent but the selling agent for the house she bought. That is how we contacted and met Jim Long who became our selling agent and then later our buying agent for our houses in Santee. Not only is Jim extremely nice, but he is very knowledgeable on real estate laws.Numerous times during both processes he informed us of the laws pertaining to the different situations and guided us through the selling and buying processs Also when looking for houses in the Fletcher Hills and Santee area, he pointed out the pros and cons to each house and pointed out potential defects or problems he observed to help us decide if we would wish to even make an offer on a house. RECOMMEND YES
