Bought a Cooperative home in 2013 for approximately $825K in Greenwich Village, New York, NY.
From the beginning of our interaction Jon was proactive and on top of the process? we were searching from across the country so he needed to understand our needs, and desires. We thought we knew what we wanted but knowing the market he was able to steer us in a much more satisfactory direction. As anyone who has tried to buy real estate in NYC recently knows this process is cumbersome, frustrating and exhausting. Jon stayed on top of the game, often shielding us from some of the behind the scenes unpleasantness. He was able to help us purchase a great apartment in a perfect location and we quite honestly could not have pulled it off without him.!
We used Jon for selling our place and then buying our next place. He was great on both sides of the transaction. For selling, he was able to list and sell quickly while also getting us over our list-price. For buying, he helped us navigate several offers, always working in our best interest and never forcing us to entertain areas or deals we didn't like. He encouraged us to expand our areas, and had great strategy to navigate a crazy market. In the end, we got a perfect place, for a great deal.
My Wife and I both love working with Jon. He's very down to earth and helped us through a big life step in selling our apartment and the purchase of a new property in Brooklyn. He was by our side the whole way and always had our best interests in mind. He is very experienced and offers great advice and we would recommend him to anyone out there looking for a genuine professional and straightforward agent.
My wife and I have bought and sold 5 luxury properties in Marin County, Calif, Woodstock, NY over the years and then turned to Jon to find a suitable 2 bd/ba in Manhattan. Jon patiently took us through dozens of apartments over almost a year, explaining the unique aspects, benefits and tradeoffs of the unique NY market and neighborhoods. We got the best value for money and are very happy with every aspect of the transaction. I highly recommend Jon Varnedoe for any real estate needs in NYC.
Sold a Cooperative home in 2010 for approximately $550K in East Village, New York, NY.
We were lucky to have Jon representing us. He was extrememly attentive, pleasant to deal with, kept his word, and seemed to fully understand the responses and intentions of prospective buyers for our apartments.
Sold a Cooperative home in 2008 in East Village, New York, NY.
Jon Varnedoe shepherded me through the sale of my East Village co-op with unparalleled attention to detail, follow-through, and a no-nonsense approach when it came to difficult decision-making, such as how to market the apartment and when to cut the price.
I appreciated that - unlike a previous broker - his expectations for the sale were realistic and, sure enough, our accepted offer was spot-on in terms of what he estimated the unit would finally sell for.
I believe his knowledge of the East Village and expertise in the market make him one of the best brokers out there. And I adore Jon's mix of professionalism and friendly personality - he always keeps the process from being overwhelming with his organized and trustworthy nature.
To this day I continue to recommend Jon to friends who are either looking to buy or sell in NYC and though it's been almost three years since I sold my three-bedroom, 6th-floor walk-up, we still keep an active dialogue about one day selling my current apartment... when the time is right!
Jon helped us purchase a unit in Gramercy Park-had perfect understanding of the market and inventory-worked patiently with us-negotioated expertly on our behalf-handled problems cheerfully and promptly.
I have worked with many real estate agents in the past and never have I worked with one more competent, knowledgable or professional than Jon Varnedoe. Jon sold our apartment in record time during a difficult market because he held numerous open houses and followed up with every potential buyer. Most importantly in a deal that turned out to be challenging to say the least, Jon kept on top of all of the details and never ever lost his sense of humor. He saw the deal through to the end and was always responsive to my numerous e-mails and calls even when he was officially off-duty. I give Jon Varnedoe my highest recommendation and would encourage any potential seller or buyer to engage him as your agent.
Sold a Cooperative home in 2008 for approximately $650K in West Village, New York, NY.
John sold our West Village apartment on Charles St. just as prices and offers began to slide somewhat in the Spring of 2008. John was always warm and personable, and a consumate professional. I had owned the apartment for 20+ years, and it was a challenging transition emotionally. John could read the situation well, and always knew how to put us at ease as we prepared for showings. He put together a lovely portfolio for the apartment and was able to find us an wonderful buyer at a good price within a reasonable time. He kept us well informed throughout the process. I was really happy to have worked with him, and would certainly do so again, although we are now happily ensconced seaside in North Carolina.
As a recent seller of my apartment, Jon provided excellent guidance and knowledge which enabled me to make intelligent decisions: What I listed my place at, how to negotiate offers and timing. I am tremendously impressed by his professionalism and good character. I recommend Jon highly and with no hesitation.
