I am a lifelong resident of Elkin NC, and have worked full time as a Real Estate Broker here in Elkin and surrounding areas for 29 plus years. In addition I grew up the son of a well respected residential building contractor who built numerous homes here in Elkin and the surrounding counties. Growing up and prior to 1988 I worked on several of the houses built here in Elkin. Doing so afforded me an insight into what constitutes a well built home few others possess. The ability to walk into a house and look beyond the cosmetic applications and assess the quality of materials used, the craftsmanship of the work, and the attention paid to small details is an asset I use to help my clients determine which house may be a better value. As a matter of full disclosure there are things I may not notice, however I know of no other Realtor in this area with the experience I possess in residential home construction. The purchase of a home is often the largest investment many people will ever make, and appearances can be deceiving. A Buyer may view houses that are very well staged, with a fresh coat of paint and the smell of apple pie baking in the oven. However these attributes amount to very little if the home is poorly constructed or the materials used are of inferior quality. Even though I feel confident in my ability to recognized the many indicators that represent a quality home, as Real Estate Broker I would be remise in my duties as your agent if I didn''t suggest the property be inspected by a reputable and licensed Home Inspector prior to purchasing. A Home Inspector will inspect crawl spaces, attics, electrical panels and outlets, heating and cooling systems, insulation, appliances, roofs and much more. These are areas and systems a Real Estate Agent or Buyer would not check or be qualified to determine condition of same in most instances. To sum up I would simply say that in the event you are looking to purchase a home here in Elkin or one of our surrounding counties I would certainly like to help you in doing so.
