04/28/2011 - catz3Sold a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $225K in Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland, OR.
I met with several real estate agents before hiring Kathleen MacNaughton to list my house for sale. Kathy recognized the importance I placed on my house and did not see it as simply another commission. At the same time, she is a very astute real estate broker and was honest enough to explain that a good neighborhood alone was not enough to compensate for the fact that my house had only one bedroom.
Kathleen has contacts with people in a variety of professions, including those who designed an informative and beautiful listing of my little house. She also provided names of painters, roofers, window washers, etc in the event that I chose to address minor repairs in advance of listing the house.
Kathy has knowledgeable assistants who provided help before and after the house was listed, and during the negotiating phase. I would recommend Kathleen MacNaughton as someone who has the skills to accurately analyze any situation involving buying or selling real estate; and for providing the client with the straight scoop.

I have purchased and sold over six homes and worked with numerous realtors and their teams. Kathy MacNaughten and her team are in an entire differerent hemisphere.
They do the basics superlatively but in addition they help the home owner with many smaller worrisome task so that the whole experience is fluid.
They are without doubt the best realtors and business people I have ever worked with. They have integrity, compassion, and brains. They go the extra mile in everything they do.
They are also on a personal leval lovely generous people.
I will always recommend them and simply can't say enough good things about them.

Kathy and her staff of experienced and knowledgeable brokers and assistants were wonderful! They sold my condo in downtown Portland so we could get our first single family home! Not only were they exceptional in the selling process with their beautiful marketing and outstanding selling strategies, but they went out of their way to show us over 20 homes until we finally found the perfect one for us and our future family. They were supportive throughout every step of the way from selling to purchasing. Not only were they available whenever we needed them night or day, they supported us through every single transaction that comes with selling a property and purchasing a new home. This level of service was incredible and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

I've been through three transactions with Kathy over the past 6 years, and she's never failed to be anything other than pragmatic, realistic, and efficient. She has a very reassuring touch, and you're made to feel safe working with her and her quick thinking associates.
She has a great understanding of the market and process, and shows a great capacity to understand tastes needs, and background context.
Kathy is also great for advice on local issues, and the bigger picture around Portland real estate. I can recommend her without reservation.

Kathy sold my house the first day we put it on the market for the price I wanted in a trying economy. I found her knowledge before & during the process invaluable. She is an excellent communicator; I never was left wondering what might be happening next. And since the sale I have called on Kathy for advice in matters of real estate. She has always responded with quick, helpful support. I would highly recommend her to anyone, & would not hesitate to work with her again.

Kathy and Melissa worked on our home purchase, which was not a simple transaction and they put in some serious effort to make it all happen. They were tenacious, very responsive, and detail oriented - plus we appreciated their non sugar-coated communication style. Highly recommended!

There is no one better at this than Kathy. She's been at it for years, knows everyone, and has the energy to make good deals come together. She's worked with us on home sales, home purchases and condo purchases. If you want a no nonsense, practical broker - albeit one with a great sense of humor - Kathy tops the list.

Kathy has handled several transactions for me. Kathy's expertise has helped in all of them. In one case, I made a successful bid on a property even though I didn't have the highest bid. Kathy knows the area and values of the property there. She shows properties that meet my criteria instead of showing properties in which I'm not interested. I highly recommend Kathy as a realtor and as a person.

My first experience with Kathy MacNaughton was 15 years ago. The condo I lived in had been on the market with another agent for 3 months with no offers. I switched to Kathy and my condo sold within a week for my asking price.
When I decided to sell my house I contacted Kathy. She listed my house two weeks ago and again it sold within a few days for over my asking price. The reason for this is that Kathy did a thorough market analysis and priced my house to sell. In both sales she arranged for additional time for me to find a new place.
My experience buying a house with her help is just as positive. Kathy and her staff contact me immediately when a home comes on the market that meets my criteria.
I've checked qualities above that I value in working with Kathy including her immediate responsiveness, knowledge, and negotiation skills. One of the qualities I most appreciate in Kathy is that she is very ethical. I know I can trust her recommendations in the process of selling my home.

This is a three part story
First me and my wife were fortunate to be in a position to buy our dream home. I have in the past had bad experiences with realtor's and felt I knew as much as they did. My wife calls me a control freak and a know it all at times, how hard can it be right?. I figured I would find and agent in gaining there knowledge of the area and do the search myself. Well I was not having much luck and begin to wonder why I sold our house. I kept meeting agents through Open House's and everytime I told them we sold our house they looked surprised "You actually sold you house in this market?". When ever I asked them to show me house's they were more interest in showing me there listings.
Part two. One day I saw a new RMLS listing come out and asked the wife if she would like to see it. Sure she says, what the heck. So off we went. Kathy's team member Melissa was there to show us the house. First comment out of her mouth was "You live where and why do you want to buy a house here?" My wife and I looked at each other and laughed and said your right, why here! It was a great home but not in the area we eventually ended up in. On the drive back home we talked and laughed about how we never met a realtor before who spoke so straight forward to us. We needed her as a Buyers Agent. She came to our home and we told her what we were looking for.
Part three. Well I admit I drove Melissa nuts at times requesting her to show me this house and that house when she said in the beginning I would not like them. After fourty house I was getting frustrated. I do not care what people say, it is not a good time to buy a home. Everything is over priced and a lot of junk out there. I was under pressure from my wife to find that home. Finally Melissa said to me "TRUST ME STEVE". I said OK, your right I will let you do the work for me. I will stop trying to control everything.
Melissa had discussions with an agent from one of there other offices in seeing a few homes. Melissa described what we were looking for. The other agent mentioned he had a few "Pocket Listings" if we were interested. At this point I had given up and it was getting difficult with my wife's high expectations of wanting everything for nothing and her finding fault on every house I liked and said ok. At least we can go out for coffee these crummy rainy rainy days.
Well the home was exactly as discribed. As we drove up we knew it was the one. After the home tour my wife did not have one negative comment. It was everything that we wanted and more. My wife turned to me and said "buy it". My wife is happy I am happy.
Look if you want an agent who tells you what you want to hear just to make a sale, do not call Melissa Lee. Melissa knows the market, blunt about the truth at times, has resources, positive attitude, tough, flexible day or night seven days a week and has your best interest at heart. I believe at times we meet people who can make a positive difference in our lives, Melissa is one of them.
Call her.
