Closed purchase loan.
We worked with Ken for our original home purchase. He had the best rate because his bank had financed the construction. We also recently refinanced and when we were shopping around, Ken was extremely helpful in sharing multiple options and explanations of how they would affect our particular circumstances. In the end, we went with someone who had a slightly better rate at the time but much worse service. We were kicking ourselves. In your search, do not underestimate the value of service! Ken always answers the questions you ask, always explains what the process will be like, shows you how your costs will pay off over time, and is very personable. When you work with someone with very low rates, they are probably focused on speed and volume to make those low rates possible. They may not answer your questions, may not make things go smoothly, and may generally have little patience for you, the buyer. So service can matter, and if it matters to you I would definitely recommend Ken.  MoreLess
