Bought a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $800k in San Roque, Santa Barbara, CA.Summary:
I recently bought a home in Santa Barbara, CA to be closer to our children and grandchildren. For several years I had been looking from my home in Maryland and had very narrow requirements in terms of location and price. I met Kevin several years ago at an elementary school function and told him of my needs. He listened carefully and kept me posted on all houses coming on the market. On more than one visit to Santa Barbara, Kevin patiently showed my wife and me numerous houses. They were always within the scope of possibility; he never wasted our time. When the opportunity arose, I was able go from offer-to-closing with only one brief trip to Santa Barbara to attend the inspection and meet personally with the lender. This was made possible by the professionalism, knowledge, attention and responsiveness of Kevin Hall with Goodwyn & Thyne Properties.
Last October Kevin called about a new listing to see if we were interested. I asked him to describe it and send some pictures. He went in and around and e-mailed me over fifty photos. I knew the property was highly desirable so I made an offer immediately and it was accepted. Next he put me in touch with several local and national lenders. The financing process was very difficult since I needed to obtain a loan before selling my current home and the lenders were very skittish because of the economic and regulatory climate. Several early attempts at qualifying didn’t pan out but Kevin referred me to a broker who was able to get me a loan at very favorable terms.
Throughout the process Kevin was very professional. When problems arose he was highly adept at explaining the issue, analyzing the situation, recommending alternatives and dealing effectively with the seller’s agent. He had a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and the documentation required to complete the sale. He managed the paperwork and the numerous endorsements and changes seamlessly via e-mail and fax until the final contract package was handed over to the lender and escrow company. The package was error-free and the loan and settlement went through without a hitch.
From my long distance vantage point the entire process was potentially very stressful. Kevin stayed calm and collected throughout and the stress was reduced considerably. I would highly recommend Kevin to any prospective buyer or seller.
