Laura was one of two agents working on helping us buy in the very competitive Capitol Hill condo market. Her emphasis was on the negotiation stage, and she hit that perfect balance of agressivness and tact. There were lots of ways in which she helped us, but I want to focus on how she navigated us through our negotiations, as buyers in a seller's market.
She had a superb sense of how our offer would play with the seller, and what we could do to connect with the seller. We and Laura both simultaneously thought of writing a letter to the seller, which turned out to be hugely important in the process. She also reviewed it for us and gave us some feedback. Laura also advised us on ways we could modify our offer to make it more attractive. But what was really great about Laura is that she wasn't concilitory. Even when we weren't in the strongest position, she negotiated for more favorable terms. She wasn't afraid to ask for things, even when we were. In the end, she didn't get everyhing she asked for, but she got enough, and we got our condo.
Laura is an absolute bulldog, but a very disarming and resourceful one. Everyone on both sides of the trasaction was happy to work with her, but there was no doubt whose side she was on.
I can't speak to how she would do in the house-hunting arena (I'm sure other reviewers have remarks on that), but if you need a negotiation guru who knows the market, knows value, knows people, and chews through paperwork like its potato chips, have Laura help you out.
