HOW DID WE COME ABOUT?
Growing up in Northern California, Joe came to Long Beach in 1966 for his four year tour of service in the U.S. Navy. Joe used the GI Bill to complete his education at CSULB, earning a degree in marketing and a credential in Elementary Education. After teaching for 3 years, he began his real estate career.
Joe had no doubt where he wanted to work. Los Altos was the area that reminded him most of home; a safe place to raise a family, where kids ride their bikes and walk to outstanding schools, where neighbors know each other and where one can enjoy an evening stroll through the neighborhood.
It was 1980, not an ideal time to start in real estate. Interest rates were at 18% and rising. Home sales were low and going nowhere. With determination, long hours and hard work, Joe persevered. Through good and bad times, with a deep commitment to the community, Joe stayed focused on selling homes in Los Altos. Hard work paid off and Joe ranks in the top 1/2% of all Realtors across the nation in sales. To date, only one other person has sold more Los Altos homes than Joe. That person is Lloyd S. Whaley, the developer of the Los Altos Community.
