How do you get your values

Answer
@Pasadenan,I didn't say that any information is missing from our Scott County records (even though it is).  About once a month I am sending information to our county people to update/correct their records.  Our Scott County website is awesome and provides a great service to our community.  As we continue to provide it feedback it continues to improve, however, a very small percentage of the properties on there have been personally visited by our local officials in the Davenport Assessor's Office.  Recently, I took one Davenport City Assessor into some properties so he could update his records as to their true value.  They were grossly over-assessed and Buyers were being scared off by the high property taxes because of it.  He promptly changed the assessments and now they are at current market value.   What I said is that Zillow gathers it's information from public sources.  They have also (recently) begun to gather information from some of our MLS participants as they are increasingly being allowed to do.  Our MLS information is more complete and therefore more accurate in determining market value.  For instance, very frequently basement finish square footage is not listed on the Assessor's website.  This can skew the Market Value by a wide margin. My point is that no Internet site/service will be as accurate as a Local Real Estate Professional who knows the area, has been in the comparable homes as well as the subject property prior to determining an accurate Market Analysis. Thanks!

How can a home be advertised for sale without the owner knowing

Answer
Your question is, unfortunately, one that is asked too often.  The Internet is a wonderful tool, however, it is also full of inaccurate or outdated information.  If your desire is to find the right home for you to purchase please call a Local Real Estate Professional, such as myself who has always lived in Davenport, and you will have much better and easier results! Thanks!

How do you get your values

Answer
Susan,Zillow gathers it's information from public sources.  It has not been gathering information from our community for very long and therefore is not as accurate as it is in other areas of the country.Zestimates are not intended to replace a Competitive Market Analysis performed by a Local Real Estate Professional.  Zillow is in Washington State and has no office in Davenport, IA.  Your comments about your home are exactly right and I see this all the time.  I have lived in Davenport all my life and first got my Real Estate License in 1977.  If you would like an accurate CMA please call me.  My house is just about a mile from yours. Thanks!

How do we list a home on zillow?

Answer
Is it your desire to have it shown on Zillow as a property or are you wanting to sell your home?  If you are wanting to sell your home Zillow is one of many excellent websites out there to advertise your property on.  For the best Internet exposure, call your Real Estate Professional to obtain maximum coverage and thereby the highest sales price for your home.Good luck!

What are some decent areas in davenport iowa to relocate to?

Davenport, Iowa is an Awesome city located on the Great Mississippi River just across from Illinois.  Having lived in Davenport all my life, and almost every zip code, I have a special fondness for all areas for different reasons. Here are some of them:http://activerain.com/blogsview/19430/the-real-estate-market-in-davenport-iowa-http://activerain.com/blogsview/43294/jazz-came-up-the-river-http://activerain.com/blogsview/67188/davenport-iowa-kiwanis-club-in-style-http://activerain.com/blogsview/77978/davenport-iowa-ranked-25th-in-the-nation-Enjoy!Lucky :)

I want to edit my listing

Answer
Eric and Susan,Your house at 4455 Richmond Court, Bettendorf, IA has an Assessed Value of $154,770 by the Scott County Assessor's Office. They have the record that you purchased the property for $160,000 on 5-13-08 which is more than likely influencing their value.Zillow uses many sources, but especially the public records, in order to arrive at their Zestimate of Value. You aren't the first nor will you be the last person to disagree with it.The good news for you is that it has nothing to do with what a Buyer is willing to pay for your house should you choose to sell it.If you "claim" your listing on Zillow (as mentioned in the other comment) you may change pictures and edit information, however, you usually cannot simply change their Zestimate of Value. If you need further assistance, just contact a good REALTOR who knows Zillow.Good Luck!Lucky  :)
