Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $425K in Redwood Heights, Oakland, CA.

As a first time home-buyer, and a single man, it’s a daunting mission to purchase one of the largest investments of your life, but Marcia made this a pretty seamless process. The hardest part was figuring out what I was actually looking for. Once I realized I wanted a 3 Bedroom and 2 Bathroom house with hardwood floors, the rest was all downhill from there. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really a complicated process, but Marcia understood me well enough to know how I operate and how best to efficiently work. Not once did I ever feel like I was rushed into purchasing a house either. In fact, from time I started looking with Marcia to the time I brought was about eight months. Even when I was busy during stretches of weeks she wouldn’t push me either, but would send occasional notes to say that she was still there. She worked at my pace, but when the time was ready to strike we made solid offers. Once my offer was accepted we were able to mobilize pretty quickly. We were able to do so because she helped construct a nice team around me between the inspectors and loan consultant.

Marcia was with me every step of the way too. Every single house I had an interest in she was there to see it with me. It’s obvious that I compliment her on things a real estate should do, but I never once felt like she was shady in any way or trying to be a salesperson just making her commission. In this regard I felt as if she was doing things for me, and not for her. There was no sense that a million-dollar client was more important to her than I was. She is not a “yes”-person either…if she felt strongly against something she would speak up. She allowed me to be transparent, because she was as well. That’s a truly important hallmark of a good relationship between a buyer and his agent. With this solid rapport, I was able to make sound decisions and really trust my instincts because I felt comfortable. She is also a seller's agent as well so she understands the whole business, AND negotiated a fair credit for closing costs. In the end, I bought the house that I wanted and I could not have done with without Marcia.

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $525K in Berkeley, CA.

I couldn't be happier with our experience buying our first home, in Berkeley, with Marcia.

From the outset she provided a comfortable environment for me, my wife, and our new baby; it was never a problem to change a diaper on the floor of her office or to have a discussion around the baby's gabbing.

She was able to give concise, pragmatic explanations of the processes as we stepped through them, and provided detailed written documentation up front for reference. When we expressed interest in some short sales, she did the legwork to investigate their situation and advised on which might work out and which would probably just bog down in multi-party negotiations, saving us time viewing houses in person (we didn't end up buying a short sale, but I still appreciate the time savings!)

She was *extremely* responsive, and used appropriate mediums: face to face for first meeting, showing houses, and our first disclosures signing so we could ask all the naive questions; phone calls for back and forth questions; emails for data-heavy things that were not time sensitive; text messages for quick responses. She was available at all reasonable hours of the day every day of the week, and gave us advance warning the few short times she wasn't going to be available. I know she was working with other clients at the same time, but I always felt like we were the only ones.

She is well connected locally: we went with all her recommendations, from mortgage broker options to inspectors and contractors for fixing anything post-close, and we've been very happy with each.

I credit our offer being accepted to the strength of her mortgage broker recommendation (who was able to guarantee a short closing period, and came through on time) and her excellent availability (we put the offer together, remotely by DocuSign, on a saturday night after viewing the place that day so we could be considered along with 2 other offers which she discovered the seller was mulling and which expired that night.)

She negotiated more closing credit from the seller than I had expected to get, with little need for input from us except the items that were priorities for us.

I would heartily recommend her to anyone! -Kevin

Sold a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $1.325M in Piedmont, CA.

Dear Marcia,

How lucky are we. In the worst real estate market in decades you were able to sell my mother’s house in less than a month and above the asking price. That is the happy ending for which we are very thankful.

The sale was just the frosting on the cake. You were truly heaven sent. When mother died late last year not only did we have to deal with her loss but were made trustees for her estate which included the house. Since we live out of town the prospect of readying the house for sale was daunting. Since mother was along in years, much of the cosmetic maintenance had been overlooked and much needed to be fixed for proper presentation for sale.

Your skill in managing the entire project was critical to the ultimate success you achieved. You sought bids from contractors, landscapers, stagers, appraisers, inspectors and insurance agents on our behalf. You hired and managed each of them making decisions from color scheme to plantings. You were continually present to monitor and control the beautiful results of which we were the beneficiaries.

You marketed the home brilliantly. You timed the listing and initial showings perfectly. You created brochures and a web presence that made our 1948 vintage home as appealing as it was when it was first built.

The actual real estate sales transaction can be confusing and overwhelming. You prepared us each step of the way. You shared sample documents so we would be familiar with the process and eventually sail through the escrow documents without the usual stress associated with massive legal documentation to wade through on the spot.

After the sale you coordinated with the stagers for the removal of all their furniture and decorations. You made sure that everything that needed to be removed was. You even coordinated with your contractor to remove and package a family heirloom hand blown crystal chandelier.

The sale could not have gone better. We would recommend you with great enthusiasm to anyone who was buying or selling real estate.

We cannot thank you enough,

Trustee
