Maria had initially contacted me quite a few years ago regarding the sale of my home at Sonoma. This year I felt it was time to sell. Preparation and marketing the home was smooth; Maria was very helpful and clearly experienced. When a buyer came forward signaled the time of difficulty. Maria knows well the twists and turns of the documentation required for a sale. Due to my not being in the area and a very busy schedule( both contributing factors in the decision to sell) my ability to react to all requirements wasn't optimal so that is on me but here I believe Maria did her best. After some back and forth offer/counter offer on selling price and discussion of closing costs( credits) which made the outcome of the transaction questionable in my mind what made the closure of this transaction unpleasant in the extreme was the lopsided nature of the final negotiation outcome. There were no successful negotiations that would allow me to move with grace and arrange for proper transfer of all my
personal property ultimately resulting in either having to donate or outright discard several items which I'd wished to keep. In all fairness this would have been a difficult move under the best of circumstances but the experience was far worse than expected. Perhaps negotiation wasn't in possible under any circumstance but I relied on Maria to be my advocate and it is this aspect which I ( and others) feel was inadequate. I have come away with the perception that as long as the sale went to plan all would be well but at the first sign of roughness I was under represented.
