My husband and I recently purchased our first condo in the West Loop and had an overall great experience. Matt was recommended to us by a colleague who also had a great experience with him. We setup a meeting to meet and go over what we were looking for (location, budget, etc). After this meeting, he started sending us properties via his database. While viewing properties with Matt, he makes sure to ask the sellers agent questions that you wouldn't necessarily think about. Within a week and a half of working with Matt, we found our dream property!
After putting in our offer (and getting ourselves into a slight bidding war), we started the close process. Matt walked us through this process and had a week by week timeline of what needed to be completed and the responsible party. He checked in on us weekly to see if we had questions or concerns. He also reached out to the attorneys, our loan officer, and the sellers agent to make sure everything was going along smoothly and to provide updates. We used his recommended attorney and inspector and appreciated working with both of them.
Matt and his team are very organized, they always quickly respond to emails, and they are always readily available. He is also very realistic about you can expect in your budget and whether he thinks a property is priced appropriately. He also has great negotiating skills, as he helped us win our bidding war, with still paying a responsible price. Also, Matt is very knowledgeable of all the Chicago neighborhoods and the good/safe streets.

We set exactly 5 weeks of time window from meeting Matt for the first time to moving in to our new place, having just a rough idea about what we wanted. We had recently moved to US, and did not have much idea of what was waiting for us in the whole process. We just knew that we would buy a place and move in within the set time.
Matt guided us in choosing the right place, the right configuration, arranging for all the associated services like attorney, surveyor, even mortgage options! He held our hand in the whole process. That service would have received 5 stars, if not more. But the point of writing this review is also about the experience of working with him in the process.
He is thoroughly professional, friendly, confident, knowledgeable, and resourceful. He will make sure to know your exact preferences, give you plenty of options, will meet you at the right place at the right time, will answer all the questions you possibly have, with the right amount of suggestions without ever being pushy. Weekdays or weekend, no matter what time of the day, you will get to hear back from him whenever you want. As expected in the short time window we set for the whole process, we had two heart-in-the-mouth situations, where the deal almost fell apart. Thanks to Matt, everything closed on time. I can’t recommend him enough.
I just finished my first home buying experience and have nothing but amazing thing to say about Matt. Initially, when starting the process, I casually looked at places on the internet and occasionally clicked on “send me more information” only to be contacted by a slew of realtors. The difference about Matt was not only would he would send the first email, but also several follow up emails to let you know, when you were ready to even just discuss the process, he was happy to help.
Once I met Matt, I knew he would help me find the right home. He put me at ease with the process, explained things thoroughly and was accepting of the fact I wasn’t in any huge hurry. From the start, he just seemed like a real guy who tells it to you straight and makes you comfortable. His knowledge of the area and the market was evident and he had “a guy” for just about everything. When I was easing into the process, it was comforting to have Matt check in regularly and see if there was anything I needed without pressuring me into anything I wasn’t ready for.
As we narrowed down what I was looking for, Matt made sure to stay on top of sending me units I would like. Not only would he release units to me daily, but if a specific unit came up that he thought met my wishes, he would reach out to make sure I noticed it.
Although he is extremely busy and obviously an insanely hard worker, he was also beyond accessible. This makes the entire process so much easier and stress free. If Matt didn’t respond to a text in 15 minutes, he would send an apology! If I wanted to see a unit, he had it set up immediately. When I wanted to see it again and again, he made it happen. I can’t imagine what it would be like having to wait for days for a response during such an exciting process; day or night, you can get ahold of Matt.
I’m not a reviewer who can say I found a unit, made an offer and got it... After I finally got comfortable with buying, made and offer, had it accepted and went under contract, the buyer backed out. Matt worked diligently to try to keep the contract going, but there was no hope, the buyer simply decided he didn’t want to sell at all. Matt was so great through the entire process and made what could have been a terrible situation as easy as possible. He constantly communicated with me and was an open book with what was going on. He simply had my back. Despite hours of work on the offer, Matt wasn’t fazed by his loss of commission, but felt so bad that he thought my experience was being “tainted”, even though it was completely out of his control.
Ultimately, I found an incredible unit that I wouldn’t have even seen if Matt hadn’t encouraged me; I had already seen the same floor plan in a non updated unit and just couldn’t picture liking the unit. I didn’t want to waste his time, but he assured me even if I hated it, it was worth seeing. Glad I listened to him—I loved it! It was a different floorplan than I thought I wanted and different from the first contract, but I love it so much more.
His follow through was spot on and if I needed a lender, attorney, appraiser, etc, he would reach out and they would contact me immediately. I chose to go with most of his contacts, but not all of them, and he never pressured, just had them available to make the whole process as seamless as possible for me. I can’t thank Matt enough for making this such an easy experience for a single, realty naive girl. I love my new home!

My Husband and I put our condo for sale with an agent who overly priced our condo and promised us the moon but never delivered. After a few months of almost no showings , we decided to start looking for another Agent. This time however, we decided to research and interview a few agents before choosing one. When I stumbled over Matt’s reviews I was a very impressed, but I was a bit skeptical. After we interviewed Matt we knew he was legit. from the get go he was very honest and direct. Matt was also able to turn around our listing in less than 48hr. A month later we had accepted an offer, and today we have officially closed on out condo. I cannot speak highly enough of Matt, he was professional, responsive, and simply put impressive. Throughout the whole process we felt like we were in good hands. Matt was on top of every aspect of the sales process, and made sure that no deadline was missed, and everything was in order from both sides.
My fiance and I were in the market for buying our first property a few short months ago and needed to decide on a broker that would not only have our best interests in order but also have the patience we knew one would need while working with us. We wanted to be completely sure when buying a place, and were willing to see probably way more places than any broker would ideally like to show. After hearing about a few stellar recommendations from mutual friends, we decided to go with Matt Laricy.
From the start, Matt put our anxieties at ease. We had a high level meeting in his company's Chicago office and discussed what to be prepared for going forward. Matt took an incredible amount of notes, ranging from locations and price range, to our 'deal breakers' and dream requests. Perhaps most importantly, Matt referred to us all as one team going forward, and he vowed to do everything in his power to make our first home purchase as smooth as possible.
Searching for homes went shorter than expected, as Matt posted new properties in our price range and location desires to our online folder daily. We were able to choose the ones we wanted to see and Matt and his team would schedule them for when we were able to free up some time from work to go walk through them. Throughout this whole process, we knew Matt was not in this to make a sale, he was in this to find us our dream property. We saw a few properties that Matt said 'Even if you wanted to, I wouldn't let you buy this place.' He cited recent comparable units, problems with the building, resale value, potential future upgrade issues, etc. He is truly a master of his craft and was proving to us that we truly were all on the same team.
We finally decided on a 2 Bedroom in River North / River West that was perfect for all of our needs, but slightly above our price range. Here is when the real fun began, as Matt's negotiation skills came out in full force. After a tug of way on price for a few weeks, as well as threatening to walk away, we were able to both agree on a price. However, when our appraisal came in low, Matt put his foot down and eventually got a total of 10% off of the buyer's original asking price.
The closing process could not have been easier for us with Matt, however we could not say the same for our financing. Our mortgage firm had a few setbacks internally, and we were worried that their firm issues would cause our financing to stall, or at worst fall through. Matt was able to not only contact our mortgage firm, but also to keep them on track on a daily basis. We ended signing the papers and moving in 48 hours later to our beautiful new home.
I highly recommend Matt Laricy for all of your real estate needs. He will always keep your best interests at heart, and will do everything in his power to get your everything that you could possibly desire. He is honest, incredibly hard working, and as I mentioned earlier, a true master of his craft. I will be using Matt for all future real estate transactions and anyone reading this would be wise to do the same.

We just closed on our home today and I am here writing a review for Matt! He has been brilliant and I honestly can't imagine going through our first home purchase as easily as we did had it not been for Matt.
Right from the start, he has been honest and upfront, tells you things as they are, no bs. He gives you his opinions but lets you make your own decisions. The "hunt" was fun as well because you always have a great conversation!
Once we made a decision on a home, he was great with the negotiation process! We are happy with the way it went and the price we paid - I think it was fair.
When it comes to all the processes for closing on the home, his referrals to the various parties involved (lender, attorney, inspector, et al) are extremely helpful.
A special mention for processes and follow ups - haven't seen anything like it. He is always on top of everything and you won't have to wait for more than 5-10 minutes to get a response to your email!
