My wife and I were born and raised in Chicago, but looking for more space, an affordable home, a backyard, and a peaceful neighborhood, we decided to venture into the burbs, specifically around La Grange, Brookfield, and Riverside. We had no prior experience or knowledge of these places other than word of mouth about how nice these towns were. My wife was the one who found Maureen--I believe through a Google search--and it's wild to think that's how we managed to link up with such a genuine, thorough agent.
We met Maureen at her office and sort of brainstormed what the perfect home would be for us, what the neighborhoods were like, what were reasonable expectations, and what was available in the area. It was an in-depth and frankly comforting experience, because a lot of the time you can feel rushed by an agent into making a decision, with someone who finds the home that "fits" your criteria and expects you to buy it. Maureen was personable and truly interested in finding you the right home, as if making the right fit between buyer and property was a reward in and of itself, besides compensation. Not only did Maureen make herself extremely available 24/7, but there were instances where we visited a home and she said, "This isn't the one." Not only did she show the home, but she showed the neighborhood. She suggested opportunities in home improvements to raise the potential house's value in a future resale.
She didn't just sell a property, she sold the life you'd lead there, and that's what ultimately did it for us. A home quickly came on the market and she immediately brought us out to see it, because by that point she knew our preferences, and knew it was a block away from the train, knew it was close to our favorite grocery stores, knew the best restaurants and night life in the area, and knew what a big yard meant for our two playful dogs. Even after the purchase we still email back and forth, talking about restaurants or about previous matters she knew we were dealing with while looking for a home. Friends are beginning to look for homes, and we immediately bring up Maureen's name. There isn't another person I'd recommend to loved ones. She functions in a field that can intimidate and confuse an outside person, but like a good contractor or mechanic or banker, she's one of those good names you're almost tripping over yourself to recommend.
