Ratings & Reviews

I worked with Michael ten years ago, when I was looking for my first house. After months of patiently listening to me explain what I wanted (but couldn’t find), Michael found me the perfect home, at a price well below what I expected. Michael was the ultimate professional throughout that sale; tirelessly attuned to detail, always forward-thinking and conducting his business with only the highest standards in mind. A class act. I had ten blissful years in my home, and when it came time to sell, Michael was my first call. All the same qualities that made him invaluable to me as a buyer were proven ten-fold as a seller. The process was much more involved and Michael expertly guided me through it; choosing the necessary renovations, deciding on a listing price, creating the marketing materials, overseeing the open house, navigating the almost dozen offers we received, and finally helping me deal with a nervous first-time buyer – much like I was ten years ago. Why is he such a great resource on either end of the deal? Because at the heart of Michael’s success is a simple credo, one that garners him both clients and other agents who seek out his advice and involvement. That a good sale is where a buyer and seller both walk away happy. If you share that belief, as I now do? Michael is your guy.

Sold a Condo home in 2014 for approximately $900K in Santa Monica, CA.

To put it simply, Michael Collins is the best. He’s professional, on point, and most of all he is a lovely person. As first time home buyers in Santa Monica in 2009, we were intimidated by the whole buying process. Michael was highly recommended to us by a good friend and his knowledge, patience and guidance were exactly what we were looking for in a real estate agent. He was always available, day or night. We always felt like Michael truly cared that we were happy and that finding the perfect home for us was his top priority.

Now 5 years later, we are selling our first home and have gone to Michael again to guide us through our first home selling process. This time, he is working with the wonderful, professional and kind, Allie Riley. Together they make an excellent team and we have been nothing but pleased with both of them in regards to their professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness and guidance. They are a true pleasure to work with and we will 100% recommend them to friends and colleagues. We cannot begin to thank both Michael and Allie enough for everything they have done for us.

Warmest regards, Tracy Pope & Paul Falcone

Bought a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $1.15M in Mar Vista, Los Angeles, CA.

We feel so lucky to have worked with Michael Collins in recently buying our home. We cannot recommend him more, nor can we compliment him enough!

When we decided to move quickly on buying an architectural home that had just been listed, we called Michael and he helped us forge ahead with lightning speed on the offer. His ability to throw himself quickly into our purchase and keenly represent our interests was the difference between getting the house and having it slip away. In addition, with Michael’s savvy counsel, we were able to sell our old house within the week in order to purchase our new home.

Michael was incredibly professional and communicative. He was in constant contact by e-mail and telephone throughout the escrow and mortgage application process. He also recommended to us a great crew of professionals to inspect and make repairs on our property all of whom were fantastic.

In what might have turned into a stressful transaction, Michael smoothed the way for us. He put us at ease with his exceptional experience and we always felt well taken care of with his reliable, confident, honest, and truthful approach. He was absolutely amazing to work with in every step of our real estate transaction.

Thank you so much, Michael, for helping us into our wonderful new home. We honestly don’t think we could have done it without you!

Sold a Condo home in 2011 for approximately $675K in Los Angeles, CA.

Michael, thanks to you we just successfully closed what turned out to be a very difficult escrow. At certain times during the escrow it seemed some new problem or concern arose every minute but eventually the problems were resolved, compromises made and the sale closed. Without your steady hands, guidance, advice and patience I don’t believe we would have been able to succeed. There were many times I thought the buyer would cancel the sale and our backups walk. Even with all my experience as a real estate attorney and the experience of my co-trustee in this sale (of a major local bank’s trust real estate department) you knew how to handle certain of the problems that arose better than we did. I’m glad we trusted your judgments – but then what you advised made so much sense. In one respect your excellent work is not really a surprise as we’ve worked together on a number of other sales in years past, all successfully closed. Quite a record! That’s why I keep calling you.

Sold a home in 2009 in Century City, Los Angeles, CA 90067.

Early last year my mother passed away and left a condominium in Century City which she had owned for over 35 years. Needless to say the unit was somewhat outdated and would require substantial upgrades to make it competitive in the existing market. I spoke with several agents who indicated that if I wanted to sell the unit at other than a “fire sale” price we would have to do major renovations. Most of these agents showed no real imagination in finding a practical solution. At a dinner with a longtime friend I mentioned my dilemma and he told me about Michael, who had recently represented him in the purchase of a new home. He told me that Michael was creative, hardworking and most importantly honest. I subsequently met with Michael at the condo. He explained that the condo market was quite week and that the Century City area was particularly challenged because of the number of units being offered. Michael explained that many of the condos in our and adjacent buildings had been taken over by the banks who were anxious to sell them putting pressure on prices. In addition he explained that many of the units being offered had recently been renovated which put our unit at somewhat at a disadvantage. After explaining the realities of the market he explained that our unit had certain advantages to some potential buyers and that our situation was not that bleak. He suggested that we do no major renovations since he did not think that the cost would necessarily bring a price that would justify the expenditure. Rather his recommendation was to clean , paint and re-carpet the unit which we did at a very nominal cost. His reason was that doing this simple work would highlight the positive features of the unit so that potential buyers could see its potential. The unit was put on the market in the middle of August, 2009. Michael had a clear marketing plan. Since the unit was on a lower floor he felt that this was often a plus for elder persons who did not like heights because of fears and inconvenience in the event of elevator failures and he targeted this group as well as the larger population. At the outset he said that it would be challenging but he felt that he could sell the unit at a fair price to us. During the process Michael on his own kept us upraised of what was happening both positive and negative. Sometime in September he found a couple who were renting in the building that showed promising interest but were not prepared to make an offer. In the ensuing months he continued to have multiple showings but all the while remaining in contact with this couple. Finally in November they made an offer and after some back and forth Michael was able to obtaining a price that we felt was more than fair. Most importantly, Michael was very careful to have very detailed disclosures so that the buyers inspections turned up no unknown conditions which resulted in no purchase price adjustments. The sale closed in the middle of December, about four months after being listed. During the escrow period Michael and his staff took care of all of the details and the process went seamlessly. I found Michael to be a very bright, creative and hardworking broker who was always straight forward in his dealings. He is a person of excellent character and great integrity who reflects favorably on his profession. Without reservation, I would highly recommend Michael .

Bought a Multi Family home in 2007 for approximately $650K in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA.

Being a first time buyer, I was scared stiff about buying a home in Los Angeles. Where to start? Who could I trust? A friend recommended Michael to me. What a friend! From day 1, Michael was amazing. He spent hours with me sitting down explaining things to me. He made me feel very comfortable about the huge purchase I was making. Every phone call and email was always returned within minutes, and he knew my situation, my property and the seller inside out. Michael fought for me on many things with the property. He always provided honest and unbiased information to me on the market, my property and what i should be doing. Even when I’m certain my questions and calls became overbearing Michael always worked with me and never rested till I was satisfied and comfortable with many aspects of my purchase. The process was so daunting and the beginning – I truly had no idea where to start. But after one meeting with Michael the ball was rolling and everything flowed with ease. I had a very long escrow (due to new construction, and totally out of Mike and I’s control) and he stayed with me to the very end. He commitment to me was 100% for the entire period. I would recommend Michael Collins to anyone in the LA area wanting to buy or sell property. I’ll certainly be looking to him in a few years to help me seal the next deal. Tim R. Anderson

Bought a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $1.825M in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.

Michael knows exactly what he’s doing and is a respected expert in his field. But it’s how he does it that distinguishes him from his colleagues. He really cares about his clients, exhibiting great patience when appropriate while being firm and definitive when necessary. He seems to know every property in the area, he’ll help you decide what you want, he’s a terrific negotiator, and he’ll make it happen. He’s extraordinarily kind and thoughtful, bringing relative calm to a process that can be fraught with anxiety. And he’s honorable, which ultimately can only work to your benefit. Use him!

Sold a Single Family home in 2012 in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.

Michael had been a family acquaintance for several years before I chose to hire him to sell my home in the Sunset Strip Hills. It was an especially difficult transaction because I had moved to the East Coast 5 years earlier and had been renting out my home in the meantime. In order to finally sell it when the time came, the house required considerable repairs, above and beyond the normal cleanup and staging for sale. Michael oversaw every aspect of these repairs – including even meeting contractors at the site – all in addition to the “normal” tasks associated with marketing a home. I trusted Michael so completely that I gratefully spent tens of thousands of dollars for repairs and staging, hoping and believing that the final sale would in the end, be worth the expense. Amazingly, the entire transaction – down to overseeing movers to pack and remove my few remaining possessions – all happened without me ever once actually physically being present. I never thought this could happen and had been anxious about figuring out how I could manage all this from 3000 miles away. I have lived most of my life in the LA area – 30+ years in the Beverly Hills area. I have worked with more than half a dozen realtors there, plus several more in other cities around the country (and world). I have never had the kind of service, nor had the sort of confidence, that I had with Michael. I could never have sold my home for the price and in the timeframe that were ultimately possible, were it not for him. I recommend him unreservedly and whole heartedly. I am happy to speak to prospective clients to further elaborate on my experience and hope many others will enjoy the extraordinary level of professionalism and service that I have with Michael Collins
