My husband and I just closed on our home in South Florida. To say that it was a long and arduous process is so much of an understatement that you would not believe the turmoil that we had. Ray Stevens was so very helpful in this process that I believe that we would still be waiting for closure if we did not chose him as our mortgage broker.
Ray Stevens is very knowledgeable and he looks out for his client?s best interest. He is very attentive and guided us through the process. During each step he discussed what we should expect and the time frames we would be working with. Ray would call us on weekends and evenings to keep us informed. He was able to get us a very low interest rate and he minimized our closing costs. We locked in at an interest rate of 5.5% but days later the rates had dropped to 5.25% and Ray informed us of this change. I know this is not substantial but this showed us his honesty and that he really was looking out for us.
In addition because he is located in the South Florida area he was able to come to our closing. In essence I highly recommend Ray Stevens and I hope to work with him again in the future.

I just closed with Ray few days ago. I have picked him based on the reviews here at Zillow and hasn't been disappointed. He's is knowledgeable and easy to work with mortgage broker. My closing was not very straight forward but Ray and his crew was able to get me thru the process without any issues. He does follow up with calls even after the closing to make sure his clients are satisfied. I would definitely not hesitate to recommend his services to anybody I know.

Mr. Stevens has been an exceptionally helpful lender. He got me out of an impossible situation with two tough loans and refinanced me with a low fixed rate, something that other lenders couldn't do or ask me for much higher fees for it. Apart from his resourcefulness, he's held my hand so to speak when I felt nervous, discouraged even mistrustful. He did not only give me a great loan. He gave me peace of mind and my life back. I feel financially more robust and secure. I wouldn't go far if I said he's my fiancial guardian angel. I want to thank zillow.com for allowing me the opportunity to meet people like him. I will certainly recommend him and certainly do business with him. He's resourceful, experienced, kind, honest and ethical. There are not many of his kind.

Ray was straight forward and very helpful in exploring all mortgage options. For now, I am not actively pursuing a refi but I will surely consider him.

I recently became interested in refinancing a fixed rate jumbo mortgage and fortunately stumbled onto Zillow, noticing that it was a source for mortgage quotes. I entered my data and received several rates. One stood out like a sore thumb-- 30 years at 5% and no points. Having never refinanced on the internet, I was initially skeptical of refinancing with an entity that I had never heard of. With the Bernie Madoff scam still fresh in my mind, I decided to proceed cautiously and began to check the comments of Ray's previous clients, virtually all of which were not only positive, but many raved about his many qualities. Still not completely satisfied, I called Ray and asked for some local clients that I might talk to. He provided several in my area, one of which was the CEO of a local investment firm. I called the gentleman, who literally gushed over his experience with Ray. In fact, he informed me that four others in his company had immediately applied with Ray.
Finally satisfied, I commenced the procedure and given all of the new rules after the mortgage meltdown, Ray walked me through each step. He was not only reachable 24/7 but it was soon apparent that I was dealing with a gentleman with all of the qualities that define "five-star service." I had never experienced his kind of personal help with the many refinances I have endured before. One action really defines what Ray is all about. While I signed on to the 5%, which I assumed was locked-in, Ray informed me just before closing that the rates had fallen to 4.875% and he would apply that rate to my agreement. That was a gesture that he didn't have to make, but again, it speaks volumes about him.
I closed yesterday; the process was painless. The processor even came to my home to complete the paperwork. She asked me how long the whole process took and when I told her it was only a few weeks, start to finish, she was floored. She told me that, with all of the documentation now required, the normal would be a month or two. She also related to me that she had handled many of Ray's clients in this area, including several executives from Fannie and Freddie.
Needless to say, I highly recommend Ray, without any qualification, to anyone that is seeking an honest, hard-working, compassionate, old-school mortgage agent. You will be in good hands with Ray.

Every interaction with Ray was a delight. I have never seen a process so transparent and open letting me know exactly what is happening to my loan process, How is my loan brokered with wholesale lenders and out of ordinary response to all of my querries. Ray and his team is super-fast with getting back to you and there is never a moment where you are left wondering in the limbo. The best feature of dealing with Ray that I liked was his uttermost honesty in explaining the closing cost structure and him working on my behalf to find the best lender to meet my individual need. In my case for example I had some tough criteria to find a lender with lowest interest rate (pretty obvious), but also with lower closing cost, flexibility to escrow arrangement and flexibility to repay my loan. Ray found out the best combination and proved beyond point of doubt the deal he presented to me is the best deal in the market. I work in the financial services area and am myself pretty savvy with finances and ways the industry work. As banks offload their work of seeking brokers to originate their loans while maintaining strict quality control (something that was not done in the past and we all know the consequences), Ray's team have been very helpful in laying out the qualification criteria getting you quickly into the process with the lenders. Above all Ray is curteous, thoroght proffessional and a real gentleman to deal with. His team is also pretty quick to respond, gives clear instructions in terms of what needs to be done and assures you that they are working round the clock in the background to complete your loan process as soon as possible. Ray's system is completely automated and one can do request to closing fully online.

He seemed apathetic about my business. He didn't respond for a few days and then said he was sick, I understand that but then when he told me about other offers and I asked for a new GFE he just sent me the rates in email without any of the other fees. He just didn't really seem interested so I went with someone else.

Ray is professional, honest and reliable with the quotes, fees etc. He will return your call/email within 2 mins to 2 hours. The closing process was seamless with a website where you can upload the documents in seconds (think about faxing back and forth, and checking whether they received the fax correctly!). Very knowledgeable staff (Josh) who know what document is required and when it is required in the process.
I did face a small glitch in the whole process - couldn't believe that a seasoned agent like Ray (or his staff) doesn't know how much or less the lender (BOA) can go up on LTV for a Conventional loan. That glitch wasted 2 weeks of everyone's time and by the time it was corrected, the rate went up a bit and I lost at least 0.375% and I have to force myself (not Ray) to go for an FHA.
Overall, I am satisfied with Ray and his staff and I will very likely recommend him to my friends.
