A Unique Community

This community has risen from the remains of the old prison for Washington, DC.  When the extensive complex was shut down about 7 years ago, the federal goverment deeded this vast tract of land to Fairfax County. They in turn sold tracts to developers, traded land with owners who had attractive parcels in other parts of the county & built numerous public facilities including: a beautiful golf course, schools & parkland. They even gave a local art group a 50 year lease to develop studios in the old maximum security building! New shopping centers have been built, the roads expanded & a large new hospital complex is scheduled to break ground in 2008.  Already in place were commuter trains to downtown Washington, an automobile carrier train service to Florida and a major highway artery (I95/395) leading directly into Washington.  Its true uniqueness: a whole new community born in a very desirable county which had already been mostly developed.

A wide range of housing opportunities exist: one level  patio homes for seniors, townhomes w/ 2 car garages & medium-to-large detached homes.
