I bought a house with three of my friends but I was the only one on the loan since I was the one that had good credit at that time. The purchase price was 715,000 and I had two loans totalling a monthly payment of $4,300 per month (property taxes not included). When the home values started dropping, my friends walked away and left me hanging with the debt. My mortgage was upside down by more than 200k. I rented the house for a while and moved to an apartment to be able to continue to make the payments, but rent did not cover the mortgage. I still had to fork out 2,000 every month to be able to brake even. I could no longer make the payments , so I stopped paying my mortgages and decided to let the house go to foreclosure, not knowing that I could short sell it. I also had my property taxes behind for 2 years (16,000). I had already received the foreclosure notice when someone referred me to Nancy Astacio. I ran my credit a few months later and it was back at 640 fico score!
