Newton C. "Cookie" Boykin was born in Camden, South Carolina in 1953. He came to Edisto every year since then until he made Edisto his permanent residence in 1978. His grandparents, parents, and relatives have all been coming here since the early twenties. He spent many years in the woods and waters first as shrimper on the "Sea Prowler" and then as a game warden in 1983. A licensed boat captain and an avid hunter and fisherman, he loves to call Edisto and the Lowcountry home.
In 1985 he married Rebecca Jane Thompson and had two daughters, Rebecca Thompson and Margaret Graham. He received his real estate appraiser license in the early nineties, and also became a residential builder and land developer. Experienced in all types of real estate sales and investments, Newton has dealt with the selling of homes, land, lots, acreage, plantations, timberland, and investment property.
