Norm Rice was fantastic! The purchase of my home was very difficult. We had many hurdles to jump which caused Norm to have to be very creative to get all the pieces to come together. Norm went above and beyond the call of duty. I would highly recommend him as a honest, hard working and knowledgeable realtor. Michael

Bought a home in 2014 in Clackamas, OR 97015.

Norm was great to work with. We had just moved here from California and Norm was patient in letting us explore the different areas of Portland to get a feel of what our budget could get us and where it would work best. With how quick things were selling, Norm was very willing to drop everything and run us out to a house when something new popped up. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone either new in town or just moving down the street as he was very easy to work with.

Sold a Condo home in 2013 for approximately $150K in Wilkes, Portland, OR.

Norm our agent of choice a knowledgeable and seasoned professional. He has a refreshing zeal and fascination and is a student of real estate, the economy, markets, trends, internet, on line social and old fashioned networking. He is continually researching, learning and updating his skills. Norm helped us buy our Summerplace condo and saved us money on that purchase. He has now become our listing agent for out house sale. His communication about the sale of our home is most appreciated. We have weekly updates on internet traffic, market trends and activity, as well as steps he is taking to show and sell our home. Periodic text and email add to the verbal and face to face contacts. We would recommend Norm Rice and do! Brian and Chris S.

Thank you Brian & Chris! It is people like the two of you that make this profession of real estate truly enjoyable. When we first met, it became obvious that you embraced a team approach to the buying and selling process. Your true signatures are not done with pen and ink, but with your attention to the details, openness and desire for constructive input as well as your study of today's real estate market. You are both the A Plus type of people any profession would enjoy representing. Thanks!!

Bought a Single Family home in 2010 in Foster-Powell, Portland, OR.

The house I bought was a short sell and Norm did a fantastic job of helping me through the process. He helped me understand how the process works and worked well with the seller's real estate agent. Norm went above and beyond in many ways, for example, he came to my place of work to get signatures when needed. The market has constantly changed in the past several years and Norm has been around long enough to know how to navigate all the changes. Thank you Norm for all you did to help me get my house. It really is a dream come true!

Thank you for being such a trooper through the whole buying process. You were a model first time home buyer! You are the type of client that all Realtors dream of having - does that mean you are a dream come true? :):)

Sold a home in 2013 in Cottrell, Boring, OR 97009.

I've known Norm both personally and professionally for over 13 years now and can't say enough great things about him! He is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the real estate market but takes his skills to the next level by providing a caring, honest, thoughtful and sincere approach. As a lender anytime he and I have worked together with a client or that I've referred over to him has been great experience. Being that the real estate and lending market can be a challenge these days it's definitely a comfort to know that I have Norm as part of my team to help solve any unforeseen things that may come up. Norm truly cares for his clients and even after the transaction is complete Norm doesn't stop there. He provides additional services that continue to wow his clients and solidify a long term relationship with them in the future. It's been a pleasure working with Norm all these years and I guarantee you won't be disappointed if you work with him as well!

Listed, but didn't sell my home in 2005 in Powellhurst Gilbert, Portland, OR 97236.

I felt this person got our listing by over-inflating the price he thought he could get for our house. Then he could sit back and collect his half of the commission when it sold. Only problem was, our house did not sell.

After several months we took the house off of the market, and then listed it again with a new agent. This new agent was honest and told us the truth, that our house was overpriced originally and would only sell when a "willing buyer" was willing to pay our price. The new agent explained that this, and not what some realtor promised us in order to get the listing, was the real and only amount that our house was worth.

We then lowered the price to what the new realtor recommended, and we sold it within three weeks. The price was fair.

Mr. Rice also told us that entertaining offers to finance part of the sale was a bad way to go. He was wrong here too. The 2nd realtor negotiated a deal where we carried a small 2nd for the new buyer and we made 8% on our money before the new owners cashed us out in total two years later. A win-win for everyone.

So if you need a creative realtor who won't inflate your house's true worth, don't use this realtor.

Since we had our problem with this realtor, I started monitoring his other sales and have seen him repeat this bad pattern. For example, he has had to lower the price three separate times on Listing # 13244075 (Portland OR area), all within a short 6 week window. Clearly he is continuing a bad practice of inflating the worth of homes to sell homeowners on listing with him.

Good day Sailing Rob, Very sorry to hear of your experience with me supposedly over 8 years ago. You are absolutely correct that I do not recommend someone carrying a second contract in order to get it sold. Very risky. Am glad that your experience with this was a positive one, however, I wonder if you would have written such a review on your Realtor's site if you had lost rather than gained. Now you do bring up an important issue - of being up front and providing information that will help sell the listing not only for the best price possible, but one that is in keeping with what the market can bear at that particular time. Changes at times are necessitated not only by a changing market, but also by such issues of health of sudden family changes Any listing sale requires a good team approach. As we move forward, I sincerely believe that the Realtor must be a team player - carefully listening to the seller and to the wisdom of the market as well as professionals.

Bought a Condo home in 2005 for approximately $125K in Wood Village, OR.

Norm Rice went well above what anyone could ever expect from any real estate agent. My mother and father were looking to buy a rental property in the Portland area. They had a hard time finding a real estate agent. They were very lucky to have found Norm Rice. They flew in from California and Norm Rice not only took care of all of their needs, he picked them up at the airport. He spent a few days showing them properties. My Mother is very picky so this was no easy task. They bought a very nice town house in Wood Village and returned home to California. After escrow closing, I met Norm at the town house to get the keys. When Norm unlocked and opened the door, we saw water spilling out the door. The entire down stairs was under water and the ceiling was on the floor. Water was pouring down from what used to be the ceiling. A pipe had broken due to the recent remodel done poorly. Norm stayed with me until the specialist in these types of matters arrived. He could have cashed his check and went home like the selling agent did. The selling agent wouldn't even talk to us. The selling broker hung up the phone on us. Norm didn't stop helping. He made sure all of the repairs were done, he even helped us locate a property manager. Since that time, Norm has sold two more rentals to my family and four properties to close friends. He has me and my family as clients for life! I can't say enough nice words for this true professional.

Thank you for such trust - it is such friendships for life that mean the most to me - the biggest benefit of being a Realtor.
