Inspection service.
Paul is thorough and very helpful in inspecting our first home, he patiently explained us all the issues. He offered to come back and check on some of the major findings after the builder took care of it, he verified every part of the home. The report is very thorough with pictures. He is very sincere and professional, I would recommend him without a thought.  MoreLess

J.J. from Paul Wood Inspection Group recently did a home inspection for us on a home we were considering purchasing. I went into the inspection nervous, but came out of it feeling 100% confident in J.J.'s assessment and educated about the condition of our potential new home.

Prior to the scheduled inspection, J.J. was available via email to answer my questions about what to expect and how I could prepare for an inspection. I had never experienced an inspection before and wanted to ensure I maximized the opportunity. His quick and easy accessibility via email was a welcome surprise and made working with him extremely easy.

Upon arriving to the house (I was a few minutes late) J.J. had already begun his work, a ladder was leaned up on the roof, and the kitchen sink was running! His disposition is extremely warm, friendly, and patient. He took the time to walk through his process with me and to answer my many questions. I was comfortable in his presence and felt immediately at ease.

The inspection took between 4 and 5 hours (for a 2200 square foot home). To say he was thorough is an understatement! He truly covered every accessible inch of the house. He was also willing to explain things to me to help me learn how various aspects of the house function. For example, he took the time to explain to me what an "arc-front circuit interrupter" is (learn something new every day!). He worked in the house, below the house, in the attic, on top of the house, and around the house using various measuring devices and tools throughout. He documented everything with a voice recording device and a digital camera.

Even though the inspection took place on a Friday - and wasn't completed until the afternoon - the report was emailed to us and our realtor mid-morning on Saturday. The inspection report is 37 pages long, extremely thorough, has a large amount of pictures, and includes notes that are written in plain language that is easy to understand. J.J. also took the extra step to overlay bright yellow arrows onto the pictures when the area of concern was not easily discernible. This extra step made the connection between the notes and the photos MUCH easier to understand. I really feel like I have a manual to the house with clear directions to point out every problem that needs to be fixed.

Obviously the thoroughness, promptness, and readability of the report made our ability to ask for repairs from the homeowner MUCH easier. There is not risk of confusion or lack of understanding of needed repairs - everything is clear as day on his inspection report with notes and visuals located together on the same page.

The cost of the inspection was completely reasonable (I was surprised that it wasn't more!). I am not familiar with what other companies charge, but I gather that his rates are standard. I can honestly say that the value of his work is much larger than the cost! I would have gladly paid him more. The knowledge my husband and I gained from J.J.'s report really empowered us to make an educated decision about our potential home purchase. As long as J.J. is available I will not be using any other inspector! I could not recommend him more.

PS: J.J. also organized a termite inspector and a pool inspector for us - both were extremely qualified, helpful, and reasonably priced.

JJ Petersen from Paul Wood Inspection Group inspected a home that I was considering purchasing. He arrived early and was up on the roof when I arrived. He spent a good 4 or more hours on the inspection, documenting his findings with a digital camera and using a mini-recorder to capture his thoughts. Following the inspection, he pointed out areas of concern to me.

The next day, he emailed his inspection report to me and my realtor. The unbiased report documented the good and the not-so-good points about the home. Showing the seller the report (with the photographs) made it easier for me to request remediation for areas of concern.

Is price a concern? It shouldn't be. I've seen reports from other inspectors whose charges were in the same price range and they weren't nearly as comprehensive as the report I received.

I would definitely use Paul Wood Inspection Group for any future home inspection whether I was the buyer or the seller. They are true professionals.
