We've refinanced our home twice with Robert. He's honest, straight forward and a great person to work with. He works hard for his customers and gets back to you as soon as he can. When we refinance again or buy a new home, he'll be the first one we contact. Can't say enough - I have recommended him to my family and friends.

Had a flawless refinance with Polaris. I had used a different broker for my original mortgage (not in business anymore) and a bank for my first refinance. For this, my second refinance, I had called a few banks and broker banks to get quotes before it seemed like using a mortgage broker would be better. I wanted a CT-based broker and did a lot of research on BBB, Zillow, etc before deciding on Polaris. Unlike other banks and brokers, Polaris's history seemed to indicate that using Polaris would be a good experience. It was. It wasn't a hold your hand every second experience, but it was plenty good and went smooth.

During the quoting stages and first stages of the paperwork, I dealt with Robert by email. He was always thorough and always responded with 24 hours. The rate and closing costs were competitive so I went forward with Polaris. The paperwork process was defined pretty good and that made gathering the documentation easier. No complaints.

When it came to the middle stages and preparing for the closing, I interacted mostly with Joshua at Polaris. He was just as helpful and responsive. No complaints with him either.

I think from start to finish, the whole process with Polaris was 4 or 5 weeks. My only recommendation, no matter who you go with, is to make sure you ask questions if you have them - send an email, pick up the phone, whatever, so that you are getting the type of loan that makes sense and so that the closing goes according to plan.

I contacted Rob through Zillow after attempting to get a pre-approval for a conventional loan from another mortgage lender (American Interbanc). Despite my wife and my intention to put >60% down on the property and both of us having excellent credit scores (in the 780-815 range), American Interbanc couldn't decide whether to issue me a pre-approval (the issue was deferred income I was receiving from a previous employer). I contacted Rob in the evening, sent in my application, and he got back to me after midnight with the pre-approval letter. He also responded promptly to questions which I emailed to him. Ultimately we didn't end up using his services because another buyer trumped our bid with a cash offer. But next time we find a house we want to bid on, we definitely will contact Rob again to work on the mortgage.
