Selling your home can be one of the most stressful experiences. Gene took the stress out of an especially stressful situation for me. Just one month before my husband was due to deploy for an 8 -month tour, we found out we were being relocated across the globe. That meant I had to handle selling the house and moving with two young children on my own. We had just moved into our home 2 years prior with Gene’s help. He found us a home and neighborhood that was a perfect fit. He asked us to trust him when buying the house initially because we did not know the area well. I am so grateful we did. Gene knows real estate like no one we have ever dealt with before. He lives and breathes the pulse of the market. When I was hit with the sudden news that we had to move, I knew Gene was the man to get the job done. No sooner had I approached him about selling he had a buyer that was waiting to get into our neighborhood. We were under contract in just days after listing. Selling a house does not end with simply getting a contract. Since my husband is over seas, Gene made himself available around the clock for questions I had and offered support with every aspect of the sale of our home. He did all the behind the scenes negotiating and leg work with out a word, so as not to give me one more thing to worry about. As if Gene’s talent for selling and working with people wasn’t enough, his generosity was unmatched. Since we had lived in our home for such a short time, through no choice of our own, financially we were going to come out behind. I was so stressed over where we would come up with the thousands of dollars to make our payoff, settle at the closing and pay realtor commission. Gene told us from the day we met with him and explained our dilemma not to worry. He said whatever we sold it for he wouldn’t make us come a penny out of pocket!!! He was true to his word. He gave up $13000 in commission and toward closing costs in order to make the deal work for both the buyer and us. Even though he was making so little on selling our home, he treated me like I was his number one client and went above and beyond his responsibility. If you are moving to the area, Gene Shull is the man to look to for buying a home. He knows the area inside and out. He is a pro at navigating through the trials of buying from afar and he understands the inner workings of VA loans. One of the biggest challenges for military families is figuring out where to live when you arrive at your next duty station. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Gene Shull of the Real Estate Brothers, and what a tremendous experience it was. I am a mortgage loan officer in Rockville, MD who without Zillow, unfortunately would have never had the opportunity of working with Gene. I’ve worked with many different real estate agents during my career, of which some were good, some were not great and some were in between, but Gene is at the top of the list! I was contacted by a buyer and the buyer’s agent in the VA Beach area that were looking to get preapproved for a new home. They were drawn to myself and New America Financial due to our incredibly competitive rates and more importantly our customer service reviews. I typically only deal with buyers agents and very rarely speak to or have interactions with the listing agent. Not because I don’t want to…but most listing agents don’t want to get too involved with the lender and simply are concerned with getting to settlement on time. That being said, thank God Gene was the listing agent on this transaction! The deal ended up being one of the most challenging of my mortgage lending career. The buyer’s agent was quite inexperienced and it further complicated the challenges that the file was presenting. Gene’s immense amount of experience along with my persistence for moving the file along helped us put out the several fires that erupted. I came to nickname Gene the "Rain Dancer" because of all of the issues that he helped me extinguish! Gene exemplifies the perfect agent who has a never ending knowledge of the process but also truly cares about the client and their experience. We both maintained a very transparent and honest line of communication with all parties involved and at the end of the transaction everyone was happy. After 8 home sales it was time to look for the best in real estate. (If you haven't noticed, Realty Brothers are in the TOP 2 of Virginia Beach) Too many times did our homes sit on the market with other realtors for months and for no reason. We were always told our home "shows well". Though not even a bite. (When I say our home shows well, ask Nathan, I am sure he can tell you exactly what I mean) Nathan priced our home as he felt would get us our best ROI and spot on for the market. We had many people come through our home in the first month. We wanted to sell quickly so Nathan made a few suggestions and after doing what he suggested, our next potential buyer placed an offer. Their offer in the end was only a $2,500 difference from our asking price. We only have lived in the home 1 year that he sold for us and we didn't make but a few changes to it while we lived in it. Now how often do you see a home bought and sold after one year of living in it and not lose a ton of money?
