Happy to help if I can. What area is the home in - city and state? You can also try Realtor.com that covers almost all homes listed on the many multiple listing services. Just enter the area code and home address.
The problem is not zillow, it is the agent who has not updated the information on the mls data and therefore has not allowed zillow to update their website. If you are working with an agent to find a property the agent will be making calls and providing you only with apartments that are available now. For rentals that are not listed on mls the problem is with the oproperty managers who are more lax in updating since they are often carrying many hats and do not care if the information is accurate and up to date. I don't work for zillow but know that any internet source can only be as accurate as the people providing the data. But I do understand and empathize with your frustration.
The market is basically healthier than it has been in the last few years but that does not mean that prices are up. Real estate is local and each area is impacted differently. Great mortgage rates and low home prices definitely brought out buyers - especially first time buyers this spring.Last year the housing incentive kept my area in Essex County New Jersey from declining but certain towns still had prices reduced because inventory levels are too high. This year in New Jersey residential real estate is supposed to decline 4% but that is a generalization. Train towns haven't gone down and good updated homes haven't either in most towns. The home owners who are selling with older kitchens and bath, carpeting even over hardwood floors are going to see that reflected in the sales price. Great homes with lots of upgrades if priced right always sell quickly and for more money. We've had lots of homes sell way over list with multiple offers this spring!

Debra Rose is right, the attorneys handle closings in the northern part of the state. Therefore if you do not use an attorney you will be at a serious disadvantate. In the Southern part of the state title companies perform the function of attorneys. Attorneys are always recommended in complicated or orunusual deals.
Information previous is correct. You need to register on line, and then claim your listing and then you can edit information. Zillow is not accurate. It provides a birds eye view without recognition of all the interior updates and amenities. You can alter the stats about the home which will then alter the value. Zillow can be as much as 15% off as a zestimate.
