Sold a home in 2014.

We successfully sold our Berkeley house from across the country. Because of Ruth's expertise everything went smoothly and as expected. Ruth helped us coordinate getting the house ready for sale: procured painters, landscapers, cleaners, stagers etc. Additionally she has extensive knowledge of The Bay Area real estate market, East Bay in particular and educated us on the psychology of the buying public and what they expect from properties at particular price points. Ruth was always willing to talk and explain things we were unclear about and worked non-stop to make sure we put our house on the market at the optimal time and that it showed excellently.

Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $975K in Berkeley, CA.

Ruth was wonderful, and I can't emphasize that enough !! She had an intimate knowledge of the Berkeley market and answered calls, texts and emails on moments notice at odd hours of the evening and weekend. She is also incredibly perceptive and knows a ton about the various parts of this process (ie. Ruth would, without blinking, answer in great scientific, legal and practical detail my questions about some disclosure buried in page 42 of some huge report)(as a New York lawyer who pays a lot of attention to the details, I can happily say that Ruth doesn't mess around). Ruth was also very thoughtful about the decisions we had to make and was great about helping us think about them without forgetting that these were still our decisions to be made on our own terms. Last but not least, she's funny and a lovely person to boot. I highly recommend Ruth, you won't do better.

Ruth is extremely personable and has a knack for figuring out what you are looking for in a home, sometimes even before you realize what exactly is right for you. Her knowledge of the Bay Area housing market is unparalleled. She was an excellent agent, communicating effectively and clearly to make sure the process of buying a home was as smooth as possible. I'd recommend her to anyone trying to find a home in the Bay Area -- it's a complicated market and Ruth is a pro.

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $950K in Fairview Park, Oakland, CA.

Ruth recently represented my girlfriend and I in buying our home in Rockridge. As a first time buyer I felt at total ease with Ruth - she took the time to really explain the process and helped me understand the intricacies of the strategy that she was applying. My girlfriend can be a total anxious spazz with stuff like this and I was so impressed with how well Ruth handled her and kept her calm when she lost patience with the search, or got anxious during the waiting game while we were in contract. We gave Ruth the impossible task of finding us a home in a very very small area, with super specific requirements, with financials that were absolutely not competitive with what were seeing (meaning - we did not have 100% cash). On top of all that - Ruth was thrown every curve ball imaginable - including a government shut down right in the middle of escrow, sale of home contingency, etc...! She handled everything beautifully, her negotiation skills are VERY impressive, and one of her best assets, is her ability to read people and in a strategic way that saved us a TON of money. We loved Ruth and we're looking forward to working with her again.

We worked with Ruth for our home purchase in Rockridge, Oakland. We approached her during what turned out to be one of the toughest times in the market (highly competitive, minimal inventory, general difficulty due to the summer months). Ruth did a really fantastic job with keeping us informed with movements in the market, she kept her cool when we started to loose patience and faith in the process. She was a calming effect and kept us gently focused on our needs and wants (even when we started to compromise accelerate the process). When it came to actually securing the home of our dreams, she was able to get us into the first house we bid on, for a price well under what anyone would expect for the market (and less than we were willing to pay), and with the contingencies that made the process less stressful. She went above and beyond to do extra due diligence behind the scenes to make sure we were totally clear one what we were getting ourselves into (we bought a 100 year old home, so she brought in every expert imaginable to paint a picture of what we would be responsible for). Overall, because of our situation, the structure of the deal was highly complicated, and market patterns would have predicted that we should never have made this happen, but with Ruth's skill and negotiation skills, we did make it happen and we couldn't be happier with our decision to work with her.

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $875K in El Cerrito, CA.

Ruth was our buyer's agent and then our seller's agent. She was flawless in both situations.

I tried to study the way she works because she was so good at balancing all the elements of the realtor's complicated role: She gave us quite the education while giving us plenty of space for our decision-making. She really knows the East Bay well from her years of knowledge down to sewer districts and such, while staying up to date with all the trends in prices and neighborhoods. She was personal and warm and supportive while staying totally business-like. She kept us and the whole process very organized and moving quickly without micro-managing us or stressing us out. She was very vigilant for our interests even when we were considering options that would not have been 100% in line with her business interests. She was a very good negotiator for us in our selling price recently. She's so calm and down-to-earth that her sharp negotiating skills came as a bit of a (lucrative!) surprise. She was really good at managing all the relationships (other agents, buyers, mortgage people, title people, stager, handyman, random who-are-you types who show up) who enter into any big real estate transaction.

My scientific study of Ruth was a bust. I was too busy being in the process and being grateful for her work. It's hard to imagine someone better at the East Bay real estate world than Ruth Goldstone.

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $900K in Redwood Heights, Oakland, CA.

Ruth Goldstone gets all five of my stars -- and then some!!

We hired Ruth to help us find a home in the Oakland/Berkeley/etc. areas after selling our home in San Francisco. While selling (via our SF agent) was a very fast process due to the sellers' market, we found it challenging to be competitive in the market here. Ruth quickly learned and deeply understood our next home wishlist, and deftly guided us toward properties that met our needs and met our budget.

She's super informed about local schools, has a keen ability to anticipate where a sale is going to end up, and is very very compassionate about the pressures of a home purchase. She encouraged us to really think through our options, to not be afraid to wait, and to also not ignore amazing opportunities (and yes, they are out there - you just need Ruth to help you find and navigate them :D). She also has a great arsenal of ideas for helping you come up with your best offer that is as attractive as possible to sellers.

If we had to do it over again (and who knows, perhaps we may one day), we would definitely choose Ruth. We also encourage anyone who enjoys low-drama, efficient and kind agents to contact Ruth. She's rad.

Sold a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $900K in Shafter, Oakland, CA.

Ruth Goldstone helped us both purchase our new home as well as sell the one we vacated, both in North Oakland and both in 2011... in that order. Ruth has all of the important attributes that you'd want in a real estate agent and then some -- she is highly intelligent, extremely patient, and an excellent listener. The best part is that Ruth makes it unequivocably clear (in both words and action) that she has the client's best interests in mind, whether you are engaging her to represent you in a sale or with a purchase.

When we purchased our current home, Ruth read the seller's circumstances perfectly, and used that insight to negotiate the sale price to be below asking price... yes, in Rockridge. She then helped us prepare our old bungalow for sale, and brought in a sale price that was beyond anything in our wildest dreams. All the while, Ruth ran cover for us and alleviated much of our stress from both of these transactions. Ruth is EXACTLY the kind of realtor -- versatile, funny and wicked smart -- you want on your team.

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $1.275M in Rockridge, Oakland, CA.

Ruth is fabulous all around--as an agent and as a person! She cares about doing a great job and is great at what she does. She was instrumental in both purchasing and selling our house in Rockridge. In a very competitive market, we were able to buy the house we really wanted. She didn't rush us as we figured things out, but was poised to act when we were ready. During our 6 years of ownership, she provided a huge resource base of tradespeople at reasonable rates to renovate. When it was time to sell, she knew exactly what to do to prep the house. We sold with multiple offers at a price that exceeded what she had predicted. We can't recommend her highly enough for both buyers and sellers, and we wish she were in DC to help us buy a place here!

Bought a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $1.125M in Crocker Highland, Oakland, CA.

Ruth helped my husband and me buy our 1st home in Oakland in 2001 in a very competitive market. Working with and getting to know her was a pleasure. When we decided to sell in 2010, Ruth was the only agent we would have considered. Once again she was great, incredibly dedicated, on top of all details and also very supportive. She knows what needs to be done to sell or buy. She has the connections locally that you need to successfully navigate real estate in the Bay Area. She is able to work with difficult characters when it's unfortunately needed, she's not a wimp. She's also a good person, which is important to us. Highly recommended!
