Are "Electronic Gopher Repellers" Effective?

Response
I have used them and everything else years back. The property I had back a school p e field.I had little success with the battery noise generators that stake into the ground approx 12 inches.I will now tell you what did workGOPHER SPURGE it is a small plant. I planted the seeds approx 4 foot on center and in a year no more gophers!  I had a neighbor who had them in their front yard and the gopher spurge was impractical.  He hooked up a 2 inch flex line from the exhaust pipe and put it in the fresh hole in the morning and started his car let it run for 15 minutes.  I never saw another gopher hole in his lawn again. On caddy shack he used c-4 and when they filmed it in Florida the planes that flew over thought it was some major bomb or minor nuclear explosion.  The puppet lived for caddy shack 2

3 way pull switch...

Best Answer
Hi Trump,You have confused the two.The 3 way switch is for switching at two or more locations. The 3 pull switch is for a 3way light bulb or 3 way lamp. ( 50, 100 150 watt lamps )They do not work hand in hand.

How much Wattage on a single breaker.

Answer
You may be able to so long as no other loads will be on the circuit as well. If you are planning on using the circuit that is already GFI protected. Don't.Lights on GFI's don't do well. There are always other options consult a good electrician and have them do the work. Usually a good electrician is one that does their own work, has been licensed for 10 plus years and you can check them out with the state and they are have no complaints on their license.

Wired smoke detectors/ mandatory in CO new construction homes?

Answer
The fire code is National.Smoke detector requirements in So Cal sometimes exceed the National code. This is true state to state and county to county. The national code states that the smoke detectors are required to be in the hallways leading to bedrooms must be hardwired, interconnected, and battery back up. Installing them in the bedrooms can be an added local code as well. It is definitely a good idea to have them added as well.  There are also codes for height in relation to the ceiling and how far from doorways to bedrooms and distance from air returns or air vents.  Hire a qualified electrician to install them even if the builder forgot. Hopefully you will never need them.  Find an electrician who has 10 plus years experience, check their license with the state before you call.

What is the rule of thumb about replacing knob and tube wiring in an old home?

Answer
I just love it when Real estate agents or loan officers answer electrical questions.  It makes me want to answer FHA questions because I got a loan once.  Knob and tube is wiring that is 50 plus years old. Wiring was by designed made to last. 30 -50 years.  The fuse box, is another issue that most if not all homeowners insurance will not allow or cover the home if they know. If you can replace it all and the old fuse box too. Your electrician will be required to wire the home up to code. This means in an average bedroom instead of two outlets maybe 4 or 5 outlets.  In the kitchen, this will mean quite a bit of outlets and circuits.I suggest you get a good electrician who has 10 plus years since they have their license and get one who does their own work.  Check out the electrician with the state prior to calling them in the first place.

how much would it cost to re-do the electrical wiring in a house.it's 2900sqft. built in1961.

Answer
WOW I cannot believe I just read that.  If you do happen to follow Philip the loan agents advice I hope you get a loan through his company and forgo the fire insurance and have him cosign the loan.I cannot believe someone gave you advice to hire some unqualified people to do something on the side without license or insurance.  On the other side of life,...Get some estimates from qualified electrical contractors.Check out the contractors with the state license board prior to calling.Look for an electrical contractor that has been around more than 10 years.
