Bought a home in 2012.
Fred and his team recently spent a few months with my family to help us purchase a new home. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Fred and his entire group. They did a wonderful job of communicating with each other as team members and with us, and they were always willing to rearrange their schedules to meet with us on the spur of the moment or for a last minute showing. Each team member is professional, efficient, and knowledgeable about the Birmingham real estate and market. With each showing, they were able to point out ideas us determine why each particular house might or might not be a good fit for our family. The Fred Smith Group has good working relationships with other realtors in town. They were able to recommend people and businesses necessary to assist us in the closing process and helped make sure home insurance, home warranty, etc were all in the place in a timely manner. Throughout this process, we have come to know Fred and each of his team members as friends in addition to our professional relationship. Since our closing, Fred and his team have kept in touch and we have used the resource page on their website for home improvement. We have already begun to highly recommended The Fred Smith Group to our family and friends and will continue to do so in the future.

Fred helped us sell our old home and buy our current one. You won't find a more knowledgable agent in this town. His staff provides support and helps you through paperwork and all the details. Fred is the only agent I recommend.

Sold a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $250K in Birmingham, AL.
We met Fred 12 years before this listing when he showed us a house and thought the world of his knowledge of homes in the area. Fred was really great throughout the entire process. He did a great job making a solid recommendation for the right listing price based upon market knowledge and comparibles. Fred had a great web presence and drove potential buyers to our home with his staging and listing skills. He brought the right buyers to the table who love their new home and we were able to sell it at a fair price that was right at our goal. Furthermore, Fred did a great job through some pretty tough moments with sage advice and/or valuable answers.

Fred was amazing. Great working with him. He helped my wife and I find our first home. He showed us a lot of great homes and helped us work through the long process of buying a bank foreclosed house. I would strongly recommend him for his market knowledge and responsiveness. Thank you Fred!

We have worked with Fred for many years, and on several transactions, both buying and selling, and he and his team are among the best in the business. He's a Birmingham native who knows the area, as a broker with several associate agents working with him, he has the experience and resources to get every job done, and he offers the assurance of a win for everyone involved in negotiations, setting both sides at ease but ultimately keeping his client's needs as primary. You can't do better in the Birmingham area!

Fred was great! Although I had looked at some home listings on the internet, he provided insight into many of the homes in which I had an interest to cull my list to something more manageable and also showed me some homes I had not discovered looking on my own. I would not have known about those homes if Fred had not located them for me after listening to my wants and needs in an house. He gave me honest opinions of each home we saw. It helps to have a knowledgeable idea of possible repairs, problems and updates. He stepped me through the purchase process so I was kept informed. He was also able to contact my mortgage company when the application process became stalled. I would not hesitate to use him in the future.

I knew Fred socially for a while before I needed his services professionally. And I can promise he is a genuine guy, and highly skilled at getting houses sold.
He was helpful in getting everything prepared for the sale, his team helped me re-pick the perfect color to repaint my door and shutters, he consistently had people viewing our house, and got us a great offer and had it sold before I honestly thought possible.
I would, and do, highly recommend Fred and his team no question about it.

Sold a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $200K in Birmingham, AL.
Fred did a great job selling our house! He met with us before we listed and gave us an honest (and accurate) assessment of the home's market value and estimated sales price. Even in this market, our house went under contract within sixty days and within Fred's estimated range for the sales price. During the contract negotiation process, Fred was very helpful in finding acceptable solutions to issues between the parties in order to reach an acceptable contract. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a top notch real estate agent.
Further, his staff was extremely helpful and could not have been any nicer during our time finding a home.
