When a new friend asks me how long I have been selling homes, I often chuckle and say, "God created dirt and I started selling it soon after that." That's not quite true, but I have been actively in the business of helping individuals and families find or sell their dream homes here in Central Contra Costa for well over 35 years (how can this be happening I am only 27.....in my dreams)More Less
I reached a milestone in July of 2010 when a client and her husband closed escrow in Lafayette...and I sold her parents the home where she grew up in 1975. It feels very good inside to be working with the next generation...knowing that my goal of consistent, quality service way back then and throgh the years created a relationship that got passed down to her. Regardless of price I enjoy helping clients find that dream house, whether its a $50,000 condo as an investment or starter home or a $3,000,000 estate...it boils down to the relationship.
The market has made a very dramatic change in the last 18 months. We now face a market with huge pent-up Buyer demand and a significant shortage of available properties in almost every community. In some areas the year over year average has jumped by well over 30%. That does not mean every home is worth that much more than last year but the change has been very significant across the board. This new market brings different challenges. My experience in working in similar markets over the last several decades helps when I counsel sellers on what they need to do to minimize their stress and maximize their return. Likewise when working with Buyers it becomes a question of how do you compete with often a dozen or more other Buyers vying for the same property. It is stressful for everyone, but there are ways to work through those and come out the winner ... and get that home of your dreams.
In addition to my team of outside services like legal counsel, inspection services, building contracters, title and escrow services, part of what I bring ot the table for all my clients is my understanding of the entire area. I was born in Berkeley, raised in Berkeley and Orinda, CAL with a degree Architecture and an (unofficial) double major in Design and Real Estate. I have been licensed in both fields and worked the Greater East Bay Area for over 35 years. Now that the boys are grown (and married with 6 grand children :) ) my wife and I have settled in Walnut Creek.
On days when I don't need a car I grab my rolling computer bag and walk the mile and a half to the office. Three or four times per week I will also manage to sneak over to the gym a couple of blocks away for a quick workout before my wife picks me up after she teaches her Jazzercise class in the evening.
Walnut Creek and all of the surrounding communities are great places to live and enjoy life. Whether raising a family in the "burbs", seeking active retirement or finding that first place close to the action, but not too close, this is a great area...and I want to help you find and buy that dream house and make it happen...and create that relationship that continues for another 25 years.
