When a new friend asks me how long I have been selling homes, I often chuckle and say, "God created dirt and I started selling it soon after that." That's not quite true, but I have been actively in the business of helping individuals and families find or sell their dream homes here in Central Contra Costa for well over 35 years (how can this be happening I am only 27.....in my dreams)

I reached a milestone in July of 2010 when a client and her husband closed escrow in Lafayette...and I sold her parents the home where she grew up in 1975. It feels very good inside to be working with the next generation...knowing that my goal of consistent, quality service way back then and throgh the years created a relationship that got passed down to her. Regardless of price I enjoy helping clients find that dream house, whether its a $50,000 condo as an investment or starter home or a $3,000,000 estate...it boils down to the relationship.

The market has made a very dramatic change in the last 18 months.  We now face a market with huge pent-up Buyer demand and a significant shortage of available properties in almost every community.  In some areas the year over year average has jumped by well over 30%.  That does not mean every home is worth that much more than last year but the change has been very significant across the board.  This new market brings different challenges.  My experience in working in similar markets over the last several decades helps when I counsel sellers on what they need to do to minimize their stress and maximize their return.  Likewise when working with Buyers it becomes a question of how do you compete with often a dozen or more other Buyers vying for the same property.  It is stressful for everyone, but there are ways to work through those and come out the winner ... and get that home of your dreams.

In addition to my team of outside services like legal counsel, inspection services, building contracters, title and escrow services, part of what I bring ot the table for all my clients is my understanding of the entire area. I was born in Berkeley, raised in Berkeley and Orinda, CAL with a degree Architecture and an (unofficial) double major in Design and Real Estate. I have been licensed in both fields and worked the Greater East Bay Area for over 35 years. Now that the boys are grown (and married with 6 grand children :) ) my wife and I have settled in Walnut Creek.

On days when I don't need a car I grab my rolling computer bag and walk the mile and a half to the office. Three or four times per week I will also manage to sneak over to the gym a couple of blocks away for a quick workout before my wife picks me up after she teaches her Jazzercise class in the evening.

Walnut Creek and all of the surrounding communities are great places to live and enjoy life. Whether raising a family in the "burbs", seeking active retirement or finding that first place close to the action, but not too close, this is a great area...and I want to help you find and buy that dream house and make it happen...and create that relationship that continues for another 25 years.

Bought a Single Family home in 2014 for approximately $600K in Berkeley, CA.

My wife and I first met Steve through a property for sale in 2009. He knew exactly what to do and conducted the process very professionally. For 5 years, we looked off and on for a home to purchase in Berkeley. We really wanted a house, but were often discouraged by the competitive market. Steve never wavered in his professionalism and patience. No matter what our commitment level to buying a house, he was always "all-in". Without him, I'm not sure we would have succeeded in buying a house. We are so happy now in our home and live exactly where we want to live. Thanks to Steve.  More Less

Sold a home in 2011.

We were incredibly happy with Steve. He was my parents realtor and despite us wanting to buy outside of his typical area, he was very knowledgeable and did the research to help us find the perfect property. We'd use him again in a heartbeat.

UPDATE 10/28/2013:

Since my original review in August of 2011, we have completed two more (unexpected) transactions with Steve and updated to 5 stars across the board. The first home I referenced above was a triplex in Oakland, and he negotiated a steal of a deal. My hubby put in some cosmetic work and two years later, he sold it $100k over asking and $330k over what we bought it for (400+% return on our investment in 2 yrs). Once we were in contract to sell the property, we needed a new place and FAST so that we wouldn't be homeless. (It was a hot market so we decided to sell knowing that would be a possibility and we could stay with family.) Somehow, Steve found us the perfect home for us - a 1950s rancher with brand new kitchen and bath in Orinda within walking distance to 10/10 elementary, middle, and high schools and a 1,200 SF basement for hubby's workshop. If you know Lamorinda, I think we may have the only basement in the entire tri-city area. To add onto all that, he somehow negotiated a simultaneous close for both the sale of our triplex and the purchase of our new home. (Didn't know that was possible!) So we weren't homeless after all. All in all, we couldn't be happier and would recommend him to friends and family in a heartbeat. We're lucky to have him so close.

Other notes: super responsive via email or phone, tech savy and does all doc signings online, and knows the market and how to get you what you want for the price you want (all 3 times for us!)

Bought a Single Family home in 2010 in Lafayette, CA.

Steve is the most professional, friendly and knowledgeable real estate agent you could ask for in the East Bay. Steve listened to our needs very carefully and only showed us properties that made complete sense for our family. He was honest at every turn and advocated on our behalf. I cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed working with Steve. I would recommend him without reservation and am grateful he helped our family find our dream home.  More Less
