Perhaps because I grew up in a large rambling Victorian in mid Wales I developed a keen appreciation for historic country properties and an equally fine appreciation for good heating and plumbing systems. These sensibilities have proven invaluable helping my clients buy or sell country houses in the Hudson Valley.

We just celebrated the 400th anniversary of Henry Huson's initial sail up our river, heralding the area's incredible political and economic history. My background teaching economics makes me particularly interested in this aspect of the Hudson Valley's history which is reflected in the enormous variety of residential and commercial properties.

The attraction of the Hudson Valley for me, apart from its famous natural beauty, its wide river and mountain slopes, is its rich and varied cultural life. Our proximity to the city , just 1/12 hours in many cases has attracted artists of every kind for over a hundred years. Bard College famous for its Frank Guery designed Fisher Performing Arts Center provides an elegant venue for philharmonic concerts, theater, opera and Dance. Kaatsban Center welcomes New york City bred dance companies who perform throughout the year. The Maverick Festival in Woodstock plays classical, jazz and country music. There is so much to choose from and it is so accessible.
Whether sailing the Hudson, snowboarding a trail in the Catskills, rock climbing Mohonk, visiting an Art show in Woodstock, munching on fresh picked corn or just feet up watching the sun set, life in the Hudson Valley is sweet.

I bought my first property in 1975. I blush to think how ignorant I was as I did calculations on the back of an envelope before making an offer. The broker who showed us the apartment in New York City represented the seller and as I knew nothing about New york city real estate, it was a leap into the unknown. In my real estate career I have tried to step back into that moment and become quite maternally protective when providing my clients with the knowledge, support and information they so often need when venturing into a real estate transaction.

Bought a Single Family home in 2004 for approximately $200K in Kingston, NY.

Sue Karayannides is a fabulous, smart, no-pressure, exceedingly competent real estate professional. I bought my house in Kingston, NY with her help in 2004, and she made it a fun and painless experience. She's been very helpful in response to questions I've had since then, even when I was not her immediate client, and if I were to buy another property in the area there is no question that she's the realtor I would call on. I can't recommend her highly enough.  More Less

Showed home in 2012.

I worked with Sue Karyannides over an extended period, which, for starters, will tell you something about her patience--and with an extremely demanding client, at least in terms of real estate. Sue is an intelligent, cultivated, and gracious woman--a true gentlewoman--with a background in law and a curiosity about subjects way beyond real estate- all helpful traits when it comes to understanding and dealing with her clients and their needs. Prior to Sue I worked with at least a dozen other agents (I was looking for a house for over three years), and Sue stood way above the others. I felt she truly understood what kind of place I was looking for, both in form and spirit. I would--and do--comfortably, happily recommend her to anyone who will respect and make good use of her skills.  More Less
